Post Prop Help
Alright, here’s the story. I need to get a new prop for my GD SD. I bought the motor used with 21 hours on it. The current prop on it is the factory prop. I just had it modded up to 70hp. The original prop on it needs to be replaced. The problem is that I don’t have any place in New York where I can demo a prop to try to find one that works best. And currently the only experience I have is with the current stock prop that wasn’t very good from the time I got it. I’ve called around to a few places (ie. Hopkins, etc.). Every place I’ve called has told me that if I use it to try it out, it’s mine, and they won’t take it back if it doesn’t work for my set-up. In other words, I’d have to pay full price for another prop. Therefore, I need prop recommendations (make, size, pitch, etc., etc.), taking into consideration all of the above info. Thanks.

You had it dyno'd at 70hp or you're guessing 70hp? That will make a difference on which prop you use. If you have accurate hp, size of boat, load, etc, Mr. Hopkins should be able to steer you in the right direction. Nobody that I know of will let you try out props. I think mudbuddy guarantee's it will be better than what you had, but don't know if it's a money back. They are running the tiger props all the way up to the 7000 motors. But they are doing gear changes to keep the rpms down.

Unfortunately on props, what works good for someone else may not work for you. Its one of those things you just have to guess and get close and then shell out some money. If it doesn't work, you're back to the drawing board. Usually if you can get close, you may be able to change the pitch or cup a little to get it tweaked just right. That way at least you don't have to buy a bunch of brand new props.

Well I ain't got no mods....

But I got a brand new GD 3 blade and a brand new GD 2 blade
and if you let me try that Tiger - I'll write you a revue with GPS
info on a 35 GDSD and GDSD hull....

And if it is faster - like the guarantee says - I'll buy her...

gotta pay to play.... if you got the coin for 70 hp, a couple props should be a drop in the bucket.
