 Starting problems...
I can start my motor from the sylanoid but it wont turn over with the key. I pretty sure is the ignition but i can turn it off with the key! Will the ignition still work to kill the motor if its out?

x2
Unfortunately I think its all one piece and you have to get a whole new starter. Not for certain though.
If the motor runs, its not you're ignition.

 Re: Starting problems...
don't know if you can get just the solenoid. We got a new starter on ebay for I wanna say 125 bucks. KP gave me the part number and I did an ebay search. Think they are like 225 from a dealer.

 Re: Starting problems...
I bought one a few months ago on Ebay for $99 plus shipping from a company in Tennesse. Their name was DB Electrical. They were very helpful when I called them with a shipping question and so far I'm very happy with their product. I was worried it was going to be cheap or the wrong starter but it was very well made and fit perfectly. I did some research and I think some company recently started making their own no-name brand Briggs starter that all the Ebay guys are now selling. I think this is the starter for a 35/36 Briggs but don't quote me on this. I do know that the Briggs OEM starter is very expensive. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Star ... ccessories

 Re: Starting problems...
As a temp fix, you could just go get a solenoid at the auto parts store and hook it up. The new solenoid would short out the old one just like you are doing now to start it. Just an idea. I doubt you're gonna find one locally under 200 bucks. If you could get it to a shop, there's a possibility you could have it rebuilt quickly and inexpensively.
