 Making Progress
Took a day of vacation yesterday and went start building my blind. Overall it's 5' x 18'. Using some old 2x6 treated lumber from when my dad rebuilt his deck. Trying to only buy new wood for the boat shed being it will have a roof over it. Once I'm finish, I'll plant some cane across the front of the blind (south). Got two more days scheduled for the 30th and 31st. Oh the joys of taking off work to go play.

 Re: Making Progress
good plan, lets try to kill someone.
I hunted the wax faithfully years past where you can't build a perm blind out of man made materials, but can build something out of sticks and such. Was also first come first serve, so if you built something out of sticks, someone else could come in before you and nothing you could do about it. Yeah you could throw a hissy fit and make yourself look like a fool, but why do that knowingly that what happened could happen if something was built. If it was such a big deal, then it shouldn't have been built before.

 Re: Making Progress
The only areas that are first come first serve here are the float bind areas. We all have our permanent blind locations, won by a lottery type draw, and it's yours forever until you don't renew it. It sounds brutal where you guys hunt, I'm glad we don't have to deal with assbags too much like that here, if somebody burned somebody elses blind down, an asswhooping of the 3rd degree is about to ensue. Our communtiy is only about 2000, so it's pretty tight, everybody knows everybody, and we all help and trade with each other.

 Re: Making Progress
I think Catahoula lake is one of the worst lakes about blind burning.there is close to 700 blinds on the lake all jamed together and if you build one too close to another it gets burned. We just quit goin down there its so ridiculous.I cant imagine what would happen if you were caught burin one or huntin from it.

 Re: Making Progress
Catahoula Lake might be for blind burning, but Sandy Cove is the worst for some jackleg driving his boat and throwing out decoys next to a persons blind, WHILE THEY ARE IN IT!!!!! Hunted a couple times with some buddies there and had this boat do that exact thing. Guys said it wasn't the first time that has happened to people there.
I like where I'm at now. To my right (west) is a guy who works in our shop and farther down is a couple more guys in the shop. The blind that you can see in the background of the side view shot might get the game wardens called on him this year. Things get slow and they shoot anything that flies by them. Lets just say they shot alot of killdeers this year. Oh and they are one of those lets go ride and jump up ducks that land far away. Guess they think the ducks will go land at their spread.
