 Another ? on pods
Sorry for yet another questions posted on pods but i've got to ask.
I'm going to build my own pods from .125 aluminum. I got my dimensions from the beavertail web site. I am going to tig them together. And was wondering about the mounting of them. Beavertail recomends a 1/2" up in the rear of the pods. From the back of the transom to the outside edge of the pod. Is this enough angle? I've read and been told anywhere from 1"-2". This seems like a lot of angle to me, so that's why I'm asking on here one time to see what resonses I get.
I am going to start fabbing them next week. So they will be mounted on the boat next week as well. Thanks for all replys in advance. Smoke

 Re: Another ? on pods
Here is the deal. 1/2" tip up is not enough, it tends to make the boat run to flat or even bow down with a load. One of the biggest complaints with the beavertail boats is that they plow water with load. This is partly due to the pods not letting the bow rise enough. We install pods with 1-1.5" of rise to the rear so the boat will run out correctly. It becomes a bigger issue up here when running really rough water, the back of the boat has to have some room to move to keep the front end up. Run to flat or bow down in rough water and you can have a big one come right over the front.
So in short, 1" is about right, shorther boats, 1.5". ....5" is not enough.
