Anyone make their own? If so what did you use to make it. Thinking something other than stainless. Not sure where I could get that.

steel round stock inside of PVC w/caps on ends? Not sure how you'd attach a rope

Mine is stainless. I didn't make it myself, but know some people who have. The heavier the bar stock you use the better IMO. Heavier bar stocks allows you to keep the bar shorter. The added weight let's me throw it like spear if the water is deeper than the pole.

Someone had told me to use the heavier grounding rod from HD or Lowes. I looked at some and the largest seemed to be about 5/8" x 8' long. Its pretty heavy round stock steel coated with brass or bronze. Gonna get me a stick and make a 5' rod to try. It runs about 10.00 a stick. So less than 20.00 per rigged anchor with shackle and 1/4" rope.

Aluminum or stainless tube, filled with lead and capped. Never seen one of those before.

I picked up a 5/8" x 8' grounding rod and a stainless shackle from Home Depot for 15.00. If 4' is enough you could make 2 w/shackles for less than 20.00. Its copper coated so rust should be at a minimum and its really stout so it should work fine.

Look, the mud itch ain't as bad as some of the things you can pick up on a night in the French Quarter. At least the mud itch goes away on it's own. And it'll never track you down for child support!

Just sayin!

Made this one 5' long. Never used one before so I didn't want to go to short. That is a 1/4" stainless shackle. 1' PVC holder for the boat.

Daddy built me a couple from stainless bar with a washer welded on top. Hate the noisy shackles for fishing. It's F'in heavy but works much better then the alums.

The CA worked great. Need to make a second one to hold from 2 points. Easy to use and held great in pretty good wind today. It holds with a short line too so no need for long ropes.

I make my own stick-it style pins using 3/4" fiberglass rods from Grainger. I generally cut them to 8' and make a T-handle out of 2x2 vinyl trim. A little glue, a stainless pin to hold the handle on, and some sanding is all it takes to make one.
