Post bass boat guys! help!!!
When i run my Skeeter ( SS90LX 16ft With a 88hp johnson 12 3/4 X 21P prop ) trim all the way all up and runnin WOT at about 45 MPH it propoises really bad, trim it way down and it slowly stops propoising, it has a hydrofoil on it but i have tried runnin it without it and its slow to plane and still propioises! i hate not bein able to run wide open!!

Any ideas? jackplate? setback plate? Different prop? how much setback? forgot to mention the motor is sittin on the transom!

Fill up your front live well or your going to have to put trim tabs. When you prop out a boat pourpusing isn't an aspect. It is finding the balance. You'll get a better hole shot with a little smaller prop but you will loose top end. Bigger pitch slower hole shot but more top end. It's the balance between the two that you have to find to get the most out of your motor/boat combo. in your case it's a matter of weight distribution. maby have to move your troll motor batteries to the front. a jack plate is used to get your motor higher out of the water. thus lifting your boat more. You'll always get more speed out of your boat with one, but it can reak havoc on your transom. Plus if your bass boat is only going 45 it's time to upgrade ...... 60+ of buss

my buddy had the exact same boat, and it did that. he took it to numerous shops and tried many different things, and couldnt get it to act right. good luck with it.

16 footer with an 88 is about maxed out. i bet that boat is usally rigged with a 50-60hp. boat is made as an entry level boat and even though it is rated at a higher hp never made to run that hp. with 50 or 60 it wont pourpos.

you may never get it right.

you should be able to cut thr rpm's and find a spot in the trim that it likes. plus there is a huge gas savings. the gal per hour go up fast as the r's drop. if you run it like it has a 50 hp on it it should run out. another plus with the 88 is hole shot and load. you will beable to load the $hit out of it and still run as fast as you would light load.

all you need to do is spend 40 g's on a new boat, cause that boat wasnt made to do it.

Ima thankin' its tryin' to git up on it's pad and fallin' back down .... git that goin' and here comes yore porpus actions. Borrow a 4 blade prop and git that stern lift and Ima bettin' problem solved.

i would try a prop with 20. I have a SS140 with a 115 and thats what i run the hull is the same just a foot longer. i run 50 all day long run about 4500 rpms. so i would say drop your pitch and take that hydrofoil off.

Imo, your just asking too much of it. A four blade prop would give you some stern lift and prob prevent your problem, but you would probably be at about the same speed and more rpms than before.

Its possible you just have too much prop. 21 seems like a lot for a 90hp. With a little less prop trimmed down to where you have to run it now would probably turn more rpms and run faster.

This motor is made to run at 5500rpm wot. The boat it's on needs a little adjusting . Just not as easy as an alluminim hull where you can weld a few platet on the back end and bend them down to stop the porpusing. Might even make two porpus plates out of plywood then cover in fiberglass and add them to the bottom of your transom. as afr as props go the more blades = the more controll and less pulling in turns but you loose some top end. The problem you are having can't be fixed by changing props. you are going to have to either add some weight to the front or add trim tabs of wedges.

IMO a jackplate will be the best investment on that boat. It will allow you to raise the motor to where you need it and get the prop into some cleaner water. I know some people that have had porpoising problems with smaller boats and a jackplate helped a lot!
