The only thing that's bad that I can think of with these engines is that they are limited to 4300 rpm. If you decide to upgrade the motor you're going to hit the rev limiter real quick. Other than that, I think they are much better engines and run a lot smoother.

I have no complaints about mine, very smooth and fires right up on first few revolutions, even when cold.

One thing I have heard though and noticed on mine is when you take off, if you squeeze the throttle to wide open it will tend to bog down. Sometimes you kind of have to gradually give it the gas to get to WOT.

Mines runs good but like they said it bogs down when you give it wot and its always hard to start, cold or hot i have to work it a little to get it running

The CDI (marine grade) is the 35 Briggs with different coils that have a built in rev limiter and an electronic timing advance- gives more power than a stock motor. The coils allow it to idle very smoothly at much lower RPM than the stock 35. It has a different fuel pump operated off the vacuum from the intake and better wiring. A big plus is the CDI has a 50A charging system that charges at idle. The stock CDI comes with a stainless steel version of the stock muffler as well.

The CDI has the same stock carb as the stock 35 and the bog down mentioned above is similar to some of the 35/36s CDI or not- its can be adjusted out.

I have twin Mikuni's on my CDI and it starts up instantly and doesn't bog down when I jam on the throttle either. So like DB8 says, you should be able to adjust all of that out.
