Re: Bring on the sleepless nights....
I understand. How many you got? I used a longhorn to breed some Charloias/Gert heifers a few years ago. Had 0 problems with calving. Looked like a wet rabit when they hit the ground. We just about done calvin our heifers out. I think we like 10 more. Bought 40 bred heifers it has been an adventure from breeched births to dryin them off with a hair dryer cause of this communist cold weather we been havin.

Re: Bring on the sleepless nights....
i dont have but 9 here at home. i bought them after i graduated college and moved back home in march of 2009 as calves. Roped them until they got too big and put them out to pasture. A buddy of mine and I have some beef cattle down in Gueydan and we started using a corriente bull to breed to brangus cows. the ease of birthing for the hiefer is alot easier on us.

Re: Bring on the sleepless nights....
I kept 2 of the longhorn cross heifers and they actually look pretty good now. No doubt the corrientes will do the job. Me and a buddy just got into the registered Horned Hereford bussiness. Weighing, tattooing , and ear taggin calves when they hit the ground is fun too.
