 Engine mod questions What mods are involved with a stage 1? Stage 2? Stage 3? I'm new to this so I'm just trying to learn as much as possible before making any purchases.

Re: Engine mod questions Here's a link to a test of various engine mods on Briggs and Stratton 5 hp engine and performance improvements after each mod:
By far the most improvement resulted from exhaust modifications. I think the study would translate to mud motor engines.

High Flow Exhaust
Heads- decked (0.0xx), port and polish, valve job (x angle)
Mikuni Carb- single or duals
Roller Rockers and Push Rods
Timing key (x degree offset)
Cam
Pistons and Connecting rods

Re: Engine mod questions I assume the most popular is the bolt on stuff: exhaust, carb, heads. Do many of you just have the stock heads and intake reworked (match port, polish, valve job) instead of buying aftermarket?
