Post Oil leak - 36 PD
It looks like I have an oil leak on the back side of my 36 PD (2007). I'm guessing it is the gasket. Anyone knows what this is going to cost to fix? Probably not a job for me.

Mine is doing the same thing. Its a cheap fix and you can order the part directly from PD. Ive heard its not hard to do but I havent got around to fixing mine yet. Be sure to let me know how that goes if you decide to do it yourself.

I used one of the metal/rubber gasket from EVT on the 36 prodrive that I owned a couple of years ago and it worked great and the guy still runs it with no problem ;)

While looking at it today, I now believe the leak is just above the gasket where the throttle goes through the engine block. There is movement in that shaft and I can't figure out if I will be able to adjust it. I sent KP an email with pictures. Hopefully it's not a big deal :?

Thats the governor shaft- there is a seal for that shaft and it would be an easy fix, just make sure you readjust your governor plate when you put it back on. Thats an easy fix vs. pulling the motor to replace the case gasket.

I emailed KP and he told me the same thing. He said the seal could be replaced but it is really not that tight of a seal and if the engine is overfilled or leans back to far for an extended period then it may leak. Coincidently, I had a hydraulic leak on my trim. The motor was leaning all the way back for a few days. I fixed the hydraulic leak and guess what? It appears that the oil stopped. Man, I love this site and Prodrive. :D :D

I just changed the case gasket on a PD and it is also leaking from that same spot. Its not bad enough to worry about though. The gasket change aint hard at all if youre a little mechanically inclined.
