Post GTR 35 mod help
im looking at adding mods to my GTR 35. looking at same mods as a mudbuddy HD7000 with the exception of the twin mikuni carbs. gonna go with a single mikuni instead of the twin setup. It looks like I may not gain the same performance since my motor is a 2010 CDI motor. Would you guys still recommend all the mods? anything you would leave out or change? thanks for the help.

Heads...cam....carb....exhaust is all I would do it. Changing the rods and pistons is an absolute waste of money.

Not sure what your gear ratio options are but heads, carb and exhaust will throw you into the rev limiter. More agressive prop and a lower gear ratio will be needed to give you head room if you stay with those coils. You may experiment with non-CDI coils but would also need to modify your wire harness too. If it works then pistons and cam, electronic rev limiter etc...

changing your gearing will give you more while staying around the rev limiter

Like the others have said, just do your heads, carb, and exhaust and you'll be happy.

Im at around 4000rmp's after all my mods running a Big Blade prob.. I get another few more RPM's and better speeds with a GT prop.. I just installed and Dlack Death in take and have a marsh mellow double X on order.. Ill let you know how much change it brings..

Before I was running older BPS intake and EVT with carb set up..

Im pretty happy with my set up!

I appreciate the advice guys. I just got my first motor last year, so I am still learning some of this chit. I keep seeing roller rockers, pushrods, etc on a lot of the mototrs and was wondering why they add those mods on the newer cdi mototrs. Im thinking that with the cdi rev limiter, your full HP potential from those mods can never be reached. Am I correct, or would changing my gearing and cam help out more if I were to add these mods, ie. rollers rockers, push rods, pistons, etc

I put a cam in the CDI and like it but you still have the rev limit to deal with. You will have to play with the carb too if you do this.

Putting roller rockers and such on the motor will make it run a little bit better all around but most of your gain will be past the rev limit.

Post Re: GTR 35 mod help
thanks for all your help guys...im gonna go with twin mikuni, marsh mellow double x, IM heads, rockers, and change up the gearing a bit to get as much as i can out of the torque. maybe, B&S will come out with some aftermarket coils that contain a higher rev limit for modded engines?? not sure if its possible, but you can always hope...

anyone know where to get a marsh mellow for the GTR besides gatortail? i have called and emailed and no one seems to give a rats a$$. other than telling me they would take my name and have someone call me. i get tired of being the one who has to play follow up so i can spend $450 with someone.

Marsh there are a few threads with people asking about the twins, everyone says theyre just for looks. Its two small mikunis anyway, not the HSR's

They make more money off the twins than a single. They are great at marketing.

ya im not trying to sound like I was challenging your opinions. you guys sound like you know a hel! of a lot more than I do. I was asking the question...why do they pout the dual mikunis on the BD5500, HD6000,7000, etc. im starting to figure this out. it's like buying a set of fake t!ts for a woman...they look cool, but are they worth the money when your stroking the check?

You can get the same performance out of a properly set up single carb. Many guys on here have played with the twin set up and most all will say the single is the way to go.

Post Re: GTR 35 mod help
question...lot of yall seem to be putting in a performance cam. can you explain to me the benefit? it seems like the cdi mototr is already putting out a ton of torque that the mototr cant really fully take advantage of bc of the HP limitation due to rev limit. also, would doing a gearing change on the GTR screw up anything with reverse or is it even possible?

p.s. i decided to go with the single carb setup...thanks for the advice guys
