Post Boat ramps on the weekend..... Wow
I forgot how bad the public boat launches are on the weekend. I get there and jerk-off # 1 is parked dead center of the driveway loading the boat, talking to his buddy, and letting his young-ins run wild. I go around him and low and behold jerk-off #2 is doing the same thing with the boat on the trailer in the water.... The worst part was this lot can park about 15-20 vehicles/trailers and there were only 5ish there. *grumble* I thought they were gonna shit themselves when I unloaded the boat in the water and was off in about one minute... and I was alone.

I think I'm gonna start keeping white helmets in my truck to hand them out at boat launches.

There was this hand at the launch a couple weeks ago, he was tryin to load his boat and pulled up and backed down 4-5 times tryin to get it straight. Dad was bein impatient and told me get in the boat... we have big car tires on the trailer so I knew what he was gunna do. Off the bank on about a 2 ft drop the trailer went with a splash

I shoved it off and drove it up on the bank the whole time this guy is standin behind his console starin with his mouth open  He says "i guess thats one way to launch a boat"

I saw a guy hang a sign at a boat launch one day with "Boating Etiquette" on it and explained how to act at a boat launch

I was cracking up at some of the stuff

Don't forget to visit you local ATV riding area for a few laughs too. Watching people load 4 wheelers and birt bikes is highly entertaining. Can't tell you how many back windows I've seen broken out, or bikes fall off of ramps when trying to get them into the back of a truck.

Since I comm fish I use the ramp about 300 days a year. On friday night I jumped out several hundred hooks on jumper lines aka trot lines. I returned to the ramp after 10 pm. I backed the trailer down and my pard drives the boat onto the trailer and we pull out and up to the top to finish snapping on. This guy and his wife are fishing on the bank nearby. The man hollers 'I can tell a professional from here'. I asked what did he mean by that. He said you guys are out of the water in a matter of a minute or two. He said there was two rigs in front of us that took several attempts to get trailered up. He said then they took thirty minutes to snap on while blocking the ramp.
If you guys only knew how the warm weather saddens me. I have the river and ramps to myself all winter long with only a couple other comm fisherman. We all get along [at the ramp] and no one clogs the system. Then when the weather gets warmer a few more dudes get out and now that its warm and hot the idiots flood the ramps. I try to get off the water very early in the morning as I am getting older and my tolerance for idiots is getting lesser and lesser as the years go by.

Was at Adam's landing in Bell River and watch some lady burn up a Merc 2.5 on a Gambler bass boat. The boat floated away from the dock she jumped in and the boat floated on to some lilies she trimed up the motor so far a ram on the trim got stuck and she had the motor bout 1/2 throttle with no water pumping. I wanted to cry for the guy but that shit was funny. I woulda left that biotch at the landing

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

My dad's good friend from high school and his and grown son who were coming in off the lake from fishing, in separate boats, and were waiting for two drunks to try and load up their jet ski. Well after a few attempts of trying to back the trailer down the ramp, the son offered to help (I’m sure with a little good natured sarcasm). Well the drunks declined the offer (not so politely).

The drunks finally got it loaded. The son loaded up his boat and pulled up out of the way to finish unloading his gear and strap his boat down, while his father pulled his boat out of the water. Well, the dad saw the two drunks approach his son in the parking lot. He wasn't worried about his son, because the father and son are the kind of people where 2 on 1 is still a fair fight against them. Words were exchanged and one of the drunks pulled a pistol and shot the son in the face right there in the parking lot in front of his dad and everyone else at the launch. The drunks then fled. The son was in a coma for a month, but since has made a decent recovery.

The drunk shooter turned himself in a few days later. I don’t know what legal repercussions the shooter faced, but it just goes to show you that you never know what level the other guy will take it to.

Post Re: Boat ramps on the weekend..... Wow
i posted this on another thread the other day.

crystal river, fl. the best place to see the boat ramp rodeo. there is a tiki bar right next to the ramp. we would take dive clases to the springs. dive in the morning and go to the tiki bar at noon. it was some of the greatest times and ive never laughed so hard. you were right there. you could hear them think. as we drank more we would heckel them form the bar. ive seen fights and the beginning of devorces there. nothing like the family with the brand new 24' bayliner hooked to the honda accord. dad took 20 min. to get the trailer down the ramp. kids all with orange horse collar pfd's . mom is so white you can see through her, if she wasnt 220 lbs. oh yah dad is about 125 wet. trailer is in the water and he sets the parking brake. 20 min later he has taken most of the gel off the bottom and pretzeled the prop, but it on the trailer, almost. he pulls out another 10 feet off the winch and starts cranking. he doesnt engage the anti reverse and had to have broken 2 or 3 fingers. ill give it to him at that piont, hes a tuff f'er. after the broken fingers and about 10 more min he figures the lock out. just as the bow hits the bumper the car starts rolling backwards. hes trying to hold it but no chance. luck shines on him as the axle falls off the end of the ramp and grounds the trailer out and stops the car from going down. well most of the car. the engine stays out but the front seats are under water as is the rest of the back of the car. well at this point its not so funny. the kids are crying and the wife wont stop screaming at him. guess it was her car. we help him out. unload the boat, pick up the trailer as a buddy pulls the car foward. we get the boat on the trailer and he trys to pull it out. again no chance. tires smoking and it starts back down the ramp again. grounded out and the car full of water again. by this time its been about 2 hours there are easy 20 people trying to get boats loaded. another newby bystandard advised he will help. these two must be from the same mold. because they mesh and dude never says thanks, fu or nothing to us. so we go back to the bar. after some time we notice that dude # 2 un-hooks his jetski trailer from a dullie and hooks a chain to the front of the honda. he figures he can pull the hole rig up out of the ramp. we try to tell them but they wont listen. well i guess he couldnt see exactly what he hooks the chain to but off comes the bumper. hook # 2 found some meat because it holds. and holds well. after lots of smoke and unknown damage to the under side of the honda the whole rig starts to move. then bam all at once it shoots up the ramp. then the noise of steel on concrete. the axle is no longer part of the trailer and is now part of the bottom of the boat. it has broken the springs and ramed them through the hull. im not sure what happened at that point, but i remember the wife and kids leaving on foot and out of sight. a roll back comes for the boat and the honda. i did kinda feel sorry for the guy.

oh yea the dullie with the jetskis. he jack knifes the trailer while backing down the ramp and tears offf a fender on the truck and renders the trailer un reconizable as a trailer.

we had to leave at that point.

ANOTHER,

im at the south port ramp on west lake toho. guy with a bass tracker and a cj-5 is at the ramp. his in the boat and his wife/girlfriend is trying to back the trailer. hes yelling at her like a dog. shes crying. i tell him ill back the trailer if he wants. he says, like adick, i dont know you. i say im just offeren. well about 20 mins go by and she has smoked the clutch. and bad. he gets the boat on and the little cj wont pull it up the ramp. its so bad that the clutch pedel was all the way out and the jeep would roll backwards while the smoke rolled out from under it. he lets it cool down and puts it in low range and gets out of the ramp.

we load up and hes in the lot. he straped down and started to leave. once on level ground and out of low range the jeep again wont move. the clutch is done. all the time hes yelling at her. he waves me down and asks if ill tow them to kississmee.

now its like 20 miles from here to there and hes the one that treated me like adick when i offered to help. we have two vehicles and two boats. needless to say i didnt tow him, but the girl asked if we would give her a ride. he was pissed and all she did was cry all the way to town.

if you were there to hear how talked to me and the girl you would have done the same or worse.

I've never had any problems running the trailer off the edge of the ramp, but if you do, here's a trick. You don't need five guys tryin to lift the trailer, you just run your winch strap under the last crossmember of the trailer and hook it to your boweye. Tighten your winch and it should lift the trailer enough to get the trailer over the edge of the ramp. Just figured I'd help a noob out.

During duck season guys piss me off. They want to sit in front of the ramp and put on their waders and load the boat. We load our boat the night before and throw on our waders at the house. Last year we pulled up and two trucks just sitting there blocking the ramp on the north side of lake livingston I told my buddy get in the boat im launching I through that Z71 into 4 high and drove around them fools they yelled out hey theres a line I said well you get your A$$ out the way the line would move lol.

Arrogance, Ignorance or whatever the cause, everybody with the right idea always gets pissed off!
Hunted or fished in 9 states and have seen some good uns. LOL
All duckhunters have dealt w/ the dumasses at the ramp that aren't ready to go and getting dressed or cant find plug or some shit.
Fishing gets even better when the gelcoat comes into play. Then the tow vehicle is another good un.
Watched 2 lesbians w/ a new skiboat put it on drydock. :o The trailer was pulled up by lez #2 and she got n boat. Lez #1 couldn't make it go and asked what to do to make it go. :? Another fisherman told her to put it in gear w/ the hand lever on rt and give it gas. He didn't say back up first!!! After investigation, we learned the salesman told her to steer it w/ the wheel just like a car. No other instruction on how to operate. Salesman should have been hung.
Late duck season... 2 idiots in 22' CC mako w/ handfull of coots on the deck and single shot 20 let the Nissan pathfinder slide down the ramp and only the bug deflector showing. Wanted to know if we could get them out. Since their cell phones were in the truck we called em a wrecker. Not enuf room but have several more almost as good.
YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!
