1) the clicking sound is coming from the relay. If it is clicking, that means the switch is working fine, but you either have a bad realy or solenoid (which ever your motor is equipped with), connection problem (or broken wire), or a bad trim motor.

2) Does the trim motor work if you hit the down button?

3) the trim system has a manual release if you are in a bind. however i need to know what year model, or the serial number, or a pic of the motor to tell you where to find it.

Thanks again .... I'll try ..... I ain'ts very photo-genic but I do have a camara ......

I had a Johnson GT150 one time and it had a screw you could back out on and bleed it up and down ....

Matr-Fact ...... I was up in the back-country on Lake Fork Texas back in the 80's BlackBass fishin' in the back of one of the creeks ...... skwall came in from the north and thangs gots purdy norally ..... fish was hittin' good so I lasted as long as I could. Then lightn' gots to bad and I discided ... time to go. Gots in the cock-pit and went to let down the engine ... and notta .... down trim was out .... trim up ... but not down. Started idlin' out and thay was a guru camp over on the bank .... I was ables to git over by him. He told me to just put her on the bank and weather out with him ..... he stated he had plenty of weed and we would be just fine. I told it to him that I really needs to git back .... the wife was expectin' a performance from me .... anyways I was able to git mines screwdriver on that screw and push enuff prop in the water to git me goin' ..... not on plain ... but I was goin .....

Skies gots terriably dark and the lightn' was hot ..... I plowed water all the way back taken rollers all the while over the stern ..... scarry event it was .....

Anyways ...... I know thay is a way to git that motor to trim up somehow without the electronics .... just to hot out in the sun to do much practicin' on rite now .....

Brooks, if you trim motor looks like this, then the manual release screw is that round white thing on the bottom of this trim unit facing the starboard side. There will be a hole in the starboard transom bracket that allows you to access that screw. You will need a very large flat head screwdriver because it is plastic, and to release the hydraulics it take about 4-6 full turns.

and on the bottom of the bracket that holds the motor onto the transom (starboard side), the pic is a little dark, but I'm pretty sure that I see the hole for the manual release. Have you located that yet?

1) follow the wires coming from the trim motor, and locate where they disconnect (unplug). They should have bullet connectors and simply pull apart.

2) once you unplug the wire, put your test light on the ends coming from the relays and see if your test light lights up when you activate the switch to both of the up and down position.
