Mud Buddy 4500 Black Death problem??
Posting for a buddy of mine. Yesterday morning he was running from one fishing spot to another when the motor lost RPMS. Said he was running about 4200 when the motor felt like it bogged down. Also says he heard what sounded like an air leak. I haven't heard the motor or heard it run since this happened. Just looking for any suggestions.
Thanks

I'll tell him about checking the valvetrain.
Terry, maybe you can come down and refill it with some the gator tail hot air that you are constantly spewing.

Mud Buddy 4500 Black Death problem??
My lt made a 'air' sound once, it was a pinhole in the fuel line drawing air in. It also ran like crap when this happened.

Re: Mud Buddy 4500 Black Death problem??
Just talked to him again. He's gonna start with the fuel system. Checking everything for air leaks. He also told me that on the back of the motor there looks to be a light sheen of oil. From what he says to me, sounds like it could be the case gasket starting to leak. I wonder if that could be causing the problem. He said hes gonna get on here tonight and post up some more info.

oil leak doesn't cause RPM loss.

Re: Mud Buddy 4500 Black Death problem??
Hey guys sorry to start up an old thread again. But I am Bran new to MMT and just bought an Excel 1854 with a BD 4500. I have only had it on the water a few times. It has 8 hours on it now. I ran into the same problem this weekend. We were going around the lake and my rpm's just dropped. The motor really felt like it was bogging. Then it died. got it restarted and it runs like crap. Let it sit for the rest of the day and start it up again and it runs fine for a while then the same thing happens. I did notice that the fuel filter did not have anything in it... I think it is a fuel pump issue or a fuel/water problem. I never thought of the air leak. Any help that you guys can give will help me out a lot!

Re: Mud Buddy 4500 Black Death problem??
I have a front mounted 12 gal tank. I did open the gas cap but there didnt seem to be any pressure inside of the tank. What about a water separator? I did have fuel sit in the tank for like 20 days... I only run premium fuel.
