 Mod. a 35hp GDSD
I have a 35hp GDSD on a GD 16X54 boat. The motor is all stock. Just was wondering what I could do to get it to go faster and have some more power? I am running at about 1000rpm's at idle and about 3800 wide open in the water with a top speed of about 28. Looking for a little more top and low end. Also when I am at idle and get on it, the motor will hesitate a bit before it goes. Any help would be great. Thanks

 Re: Mod. a 35hp GDSD
How much do you want to spend? Where are you located? There is alot or a little you can do to give you more alot of it depends on how much you are willing to spend. Hell 28 isn't bad man mods will give you about on average from what I've seen about a 10-15% increase in top end but the bottom end is impressive.

 Re: Mod. a 35hp GDSD
Is there anything that I can do to fix the hesitation when I first get on the gas?

Carb and exhaust will help.

Clean the carb. Check your plugs.

 Re: Mod. a 35hp GDSD
I have 62hrs on it and I change my plugs 2 times a year. I only run gas that is ethanol free. Where I hunt is in WI. Will a mikuni work ok where the temps get in the low 30's? What kind of exhaust would you recommend?

 Re: Mod. a 35hp GDSD
BPS Crossover or Marshmellow on the exhaust.
Mikuni will work fine in cold weather.

 Re: Mod. a 35hp GDSD
Personal preference, but the Crossover seems to give the most improved performance.
