 Wiring question
hey yall I need to redo the wiring and wanted to know the best way to wire it so the wires from the box and the motor can be disconnected. Would using some insulated male/female connectors be the best bet?

 Re: Wiring question
You want quick connects for the motor wiring? Why? I don't think it would be a very good idea, but it you just feel that you must, Academy has these for trolling motors. May or may not work. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/store ... =581132546

 Re: Wiring question
just trying to rewire it and have it be as close to factory wiring as possible. the harness thats on it now needs to be replaced. I can figure out the wiring i just wasnt sure the best way to replicate the part of the harness where the wires coming from the control box hook into to the wires coming from the motor. the way its rigged now you can easily disconnect them if you need to remove the motor. hope that makes a little more sense.

 Re: Wiring question
We talkin about an outboard or a mm? My buddy's cc rig has the motor hooked straight to the battery with the key switch, clutch, & trim ran remotely to the console. One ground wire from the battery to an insulated buss strip in the console for the switches & running lights. Same for hot wires. Makes it clean & easy to service when needed.

 Re: Wiring question
talking about a mm. here is the best pic i could find online of what i'm talking about. I'm not positive in this pic if those are the same connections but on my motor they are very similar but its just one big plug. The wiring from the control box feeds into it and the wiring from the motor connects into it with female wire connectors. But the way the plug is designed I don't think it is reusable so I was looking for the best way to rewire it.

 Re: Wiring question
How often are you gonna remove the engine from the tiller assembly? Just bypass the plug and solder all your connections.

 Re: Wiring question
I might end up doing that. Just wanted to do it right...but I guess that would give it the best connection anyway

 Wiring question
You can try radio shack. Thy may have something similar. Just make sure you use as few connections as possible. Heat shrink all your connections.

 Re: Wiring question
I agree, solder everything and heat shrink all connections. you better to have to cut them to remove later than shake and wiggle wires from now on cause something dont work. or worse than that. PADDLE HOME

 Re: Wiring question
I like to use deutsch connectors, they are water tight. when I got a used Kawasaki 29, all connectors were corroded. I rewired with these and then you never have to worry again.
