I have a 1644 go devil boat. I am finally goona sell the the ole 27hp longtail and get a motor with power. I am stuck between buying a BD5500 or a hd 45 mag. Any help from those who have ran them would be helpful.

Haven't run them personally, but know what the motors are. 45 mag all the way. You can add the stuff on the outside later, get the internals first.

45 Mag! You will thank me later. You can bolt on a single mikuni and IM heads if you think you need them down the road. You are gonna be happy w/ the stock motor though.

I am kinda leaning toward the 45 mag bc the bd 5500 looks like it is a 35 hp amped up. The 45 mag seems like it would hold up better in the long run leaving it stock.

Anyone have any idea on what kind of speeds I would be getting with the 45 Mag on 16X44 GD boat?

Also which exhaust should I get and what are the differences in the 2. The Twin, "Q", or Single Crossover?

Nah, with that hull I could do 28-30 with just a carb & exhaust & 2 ppl, dog & gear. With a 45 Mag, it'll be an easy 30-33 with 2 ppl.

When it comes to the exhaust, "Q" will be the easiest on the ears with decent performance, Duals offer better performance but are loud, Crossover offers the most performance and is also loud as Hell without the baffle in.

Agree w/ camo. If u r buying to hunt, get the Q. If playing go w/ crossover.

I would recommend the 45 as its already got all the internal modifications as an excellent base to upgrade from. On the mufflers, I prefer the Crossover as it gives the best performance and run it with the removeable silencer in it.
