Post 36PD Tiller Handle
Has anyone ordered an extra set of rubber isolators that are B/W the handle mount and motor plate to angle the handle "up" a little higher? Its not bad but if it was an inch or two higher when driving standing I think it would be alot more comfortable.

Go to the hardware store and get some longer bolts and some bushings and try it. I would think if you had more rubber isolators, it would get to wobbly and take away from the leverage.

I think I'll try this myself...

Try shimming the motor so the handle sits at a little better angle once you get it trimmed out and running.

You might end up changing the angle of your throttle linkage and it might stick a little

I'll look closer when I get home but I think the throttle linkage that will be affected has the ball joint style connections, worth to take a look anyway.

I recommended shimming the motor because it won't alter anything else. Poker can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he did this with his to accomplish the same goal and it is working out well. Would be a lot cheaper to do it this way.

Captain obvious I know, but you can never be too careful around here... I'm talking about shimming the transom bracket, not the actual engine... Just making sure that's clear.

I just looked and it wouldn't be nothing at all to shim the motor bracket and shift the angle of the whole thing. I didn't realize there were 6 bolts in the handle bracket. But IF you did raise or change the angle of the handle bracket, the throttle is no problem neither.

A couple different ways but it can be done reasonable easy.

Wait a minute, on second thought, using shims to change the angle where the motor mounts to the transom, how would this change anything? The motors sweet spot is still at the same angle of the boat no matter what the angle of the transom is...or am I'm looking at this the wrong way? You would have to either change the angle of the handle or raise the handle all together.

 Lean the motor forward a little, you'll have to trim down a lil more to get in the sweet spot, and the tiller handle will sit higher. Poker, help me out. Didn't you do this with yours?

I was just reading back through this and now it looks like they did what you guys were trying to do. Sorry for confusing everything...

Fuck you owen, change your damn sig! And you are right, you would not be able to trim down as far.

No change to the angle. What I did was add some large washers to the studs on top the rubber isolators. 4-5 in the front and 2-3 in the rear. It kicked the tiller handle up a couple inches. Any more height would call for longer bolts but I dont see why you couldn't do that either. It didnt affect the stock linkage. And that is on a tall transom. I can't drive a ST model standing.
