I just got the boat and its not painted. About how many cans of spray paint (including primer) would it take to cover a 1436 inside and out??

How tall are the sides of the hull?
What paint? Some go further than others per can...
Open floor inside?
Seats?
Fish deck?
A picture?

Buy it in quarts and spray it out of a gun. You will spend a fortune on rattle cans and you'll need a ton of them.

I just did some touch up painting on my boat this weekend.



At a minimum, outside of the boat 3 cans. Inside of the boat 3 cans. Floor of boat 2 cans. Bottom of boat 2 cans.

If you do 2 coats, that's 20 cans at a minimum. The krylon fusion paint is $4 a can, so about $100, so you have some extra cans to touch up later.

Ok if I buy the paint in quarts, how many?? Can i do 2 coats with 2 qts. of paint?

How about you go buy a gallon when you run out go drive bak amd buy some more then you'll know how much you'll need. Just a thought

Did u spray it or brush it on? I got a electric wagner painter that i was thinkin ab using. It would cut the time in half or more.

Do you know what a fuk ton is? in case you don't a Fuk ton Is a shit ton more than an assload which is ALOT.
On a serious note Get a gallon of duralux aluminum boat paint. you can either roll it or spray it on. It has primer in it and all you would need is about a gallon. I used it and it is holding up well

If its bare aluminum you will want a good primer coat or a paint with primer. A gravity feed spray gun from Harbor freight is just a few bucks and the way to go. Why spend all that money and settle for a shitty rattle can paint job.

If you paid $100 for a gallon of paint it would still be cheaper than 849 cans of spray paint and the quality will be 10 times better

Spend a lil money now and save yaself in the long run.

If you have to order the duralux, it's about 80 bucks a gallon. It's worth it though. I know one of the guys posting cheaper prices was talking about a different paint. Make sure you get the Aluminum Boat Paint. Only comes in one color.

Maybe you can distribute it for MMT.

I was just making sure he knew to look for the right paint. One of the guys that posted the cheaper 30-40 pricing said he could get it in a few different colors. That aint the right paint.

id go with the duralax, but just suck it up and get the gallon for touch ups etc... in the future.

I have a 6 gallon pancake compressor with 150psi capacity. It did a good job with the $12 Harbor Freight HVLP gravity fed gun, running 55 psi. Gun was on sale. Regular price around $19.

Spray paint is a lot more brittle than oil based paint, get a gallon of duralux or something similair like they said, prime it first.

There is nothing wrong with a cup gun instead of gravity, I spray a good deal (cabinet maker) and use a siphon gun (quart cup on the bottom) all the time, people that say they are a POS don't know how to use them or keep them clean. Plus gravity guns are fukking awkward, you can't set them down anywhere without a hanger or leaning them against something.
