I posted a few weeks ago about a vantage pt boat and 12 hp copperhead. Well, after no response, i purchased this motor and am here to say this is a mo fo! Anyone out there looking for a perfect, light weight mud motor, look no further. This motor is absolutely incredible. I would love to see anything out their better. And as far as dealing with the company, and his dealers, all top notch. Gil went way beyound the competition in his ability to answer all my hundreds of questions respectfully and with a great deal of patience. This motor, on the right set up, would challenge anything out their.

you can go to osage canoes website and see the boat. Its called the vantage point. The website really doesnt do the boat any justice, i will get some pictures of mine after work tomorrow. I live in an area with 2 really big marshes and its the best, lowest profile thing ive seen come around in a long time. The company making this thing doesnt really push it. They are more into the canoes. Ive had 2 go-devils in the past. A 16 horse crawdad model and a 20 horse longtail and this12 horse copperhead out preforms,them hands down.

So basically it's the perfect boat for rough waters and high waves...

lol...and big lakes too! Na its a great marsh set up. Usually dont run over 3 ta 4 miles round trip in a hunt. Takes 3 inches of water to float the boat. The beauty of the copperhead is the more weight in this boat the better it runs. My last go devil was fine with me and dog only. More weight in the rig the more water i needed to stay moving. Me, my dog, 300 lb buddy and decoys flew in heavy vegitation with about 5 inches of water with the copperhead!

watched the same boat last weekend porpoise with the same motor on it. how did you get it to plane out? the guy i saw couldnt get on step

The key is to keep the boat moving as you trim the motor and it will walk right up. Once you get the motor trimmed to the right spot it will come down. Where did you see this rig?

that day sucked huh. been kill n em n 4 . I just got that motor and was learning how to run it correctly. Its fantastic. I love it. It has so many more advantages over the 2 longtail go devils i had. if your looking for a new motor for that rig you have id definately go copperhead. it only weighs 120 lbs. I dont no if you noticed but my boat has a rounded rear end with a small transom plate. Thats why it wants to go down n the back. but once i learned what i was doing it wasnt a problem. runs much better with 2 to 3 people n it. unlike a longtail. that boat will go anywhere out there that another boat can go. I guarentee it.

might have to take them out for a run. im in need of a bigger motor.

i can promise you, this 12 hp is all u need.

no idea on the speed. the places I hunt, speed is not really a factor. we rarely travel over 3 to 4 miles round trip. this motor works great. i prefer a 14 ft boat and this is all the motor i will ever need. would not hesitate to put it on a 16 footer. if this one ever falls apart, im sure i will get another. love the light weight design.

how fast will the vantage duck boat with the 12 horse copperhead run?

i guess i dont get the desire to want to know the exact speed of the boat. like i said, i dont travel far so speed is not an issue. the only issue with this set up is trying to get the boat to plain. if you know the boat you know the back end is rounded which makes it difficult to lay down.

I would like to see some pics of this rig running. I am looking at the same setup now except the 16 foot model and the 18hp copperhead.
