Which boat ---beavertail or Go Devil
I am new to mud boats. I am torn between a beavertail 16/48 or a go devil 16/48. What do you experts think. I go in a 15,000 acre cypress pond and 27,000 acre hydrilla and lilli pad laden lake seminole . Will be using it for duck hunting and fishing. The go devil is .125 weighing 510lbs. Don't know the weight of the beavertail--it's .100. Any body know the weight of the beavertail?

I'd do more homework with more brands than just that, you are picking between the 2 dinosaurs of mud boats. But, if that's what you are bent on, there are a lot more gd's out there than beavertails for good reason. GD hands down, if that were my only 2 options.

Re: Which boat ---beavertail or Go Devil
What kind of mudmotor did you buy. That will probably help make the decision as some motors work better on certain boats. I mean you can bolt any motor on any boat and it'll go, just certain combos work better together. Depends on transom angle and height.

Re: Which boat ---beavertail or Go Devil
I don't know anything about a Beavertail boat but I do run and sell Go Devil boats and "they are the bomb". Built out of top grade materials. They take the punishment we dish out in Alaska. One really tough boat that hauls a load well. Had an entire moose in my 2054 last night and ran about 10 miles down river on step trying to beat the darkness. Made the boat landing just at black dark. Duckdon

Re: Which boat ---beavertail or Go Devil
deltaduck....... I must be honest. This is the first time I have had a bull moose in such a position as to be able to get it, in the round, gutted, and in one piece into any boat. Usually we need to quarder them and hand carry the quarters out of some willow swamp. Not that a bull moose is so heavy, mabe 800-900 pounds, but when soaking wet thay are a hell of a lot heavier. The problem is the load is in one lump so you can't even it out very well in the boat. If I read the first post correctly, then I think my response was a fair one. Any other questions? Have a great day. Duckdon

A 200lb white tail is a mofo to handle dead weight. I would hate to think of trying to move one of them by hand. Bout like trying to carry your boat and motor on your back.

I live across the lake from you in Sneads fl. My hunting buddy has an old fiberglass paul dixon with the nylon plastic stuff screwed to the bottom that has seen alot of dead ducks. I did not know he made an aluminum one.

Re: Which boat ---beavertail or Go Devil
that would be an alumitech. i dont know the mud boat hulls, but if they are as stout as the airboat hulls ide say yes. that would be a nice hull.
