 Re: catahoula lake blinds
been scouting, issue is, 3 or 4 old post out in the lake apparently is code for this is my spot whether i have hunted it in the last few years or not, we have hunted the lake for a few years used boat blind and other persons blind, this year we Scouted, found area from last year that no one hunted at all, there was an old rusted down floating blind laying on the ground, metal couldnt even be sold for scrap it was just rusted out. We built a blind there and left at dark. Put my name and number on it so someone would call before they pushed it over with a tractor, before i got home i got a call that , " hey thats my spot, i have not hunted there in two years but thats my spot"

I wish all the blinds in that Fu--ing lake would burn down. I hope they don't have enough water to decoys 1 spoon bill.

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
permanent blinds on public land should be illegal everywhere! atleast anythin with man made materials.. ill use brush, no factory wood, metal, screws or nails.. but of course the law already has laws against tampering with any brush in any way

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
I Also think claiming a spot on public land is bullshit. If you get beat to a spot go somewhere else. If folks want to show up 30 min before shooting light & pull in THEIR blind they should get a lease.

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
This gives me an idea. Take the average age of the hunters in your boat and give the one with the highest average first preference at the landing to get the spot he wants. Exclude children under age of ??? What y'all think?

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
Good luck with that old man. Don't have to worry about me being out there. I refuse to hunt those clusterfucks where people think they own everything. I don't hunt one lake where permitted blinds are allowed. First come, first serve, period. If you want my spot, you better be there early. Try to set up on top of me, you better have your rain gear ready...

 catahoula lake blinds
If I hunted caddo I'd crawl up in any blind I wanted to hunt, and if someone showed up and told me to get out, I'd tell them to carry their ass!

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
place i hunt has blinds on the open lake, which doesnt really bother me yet cause i never use my boat.. ill roll with the punches and stick to my backwaters.. can we get a meetin set up with LDWF to discuss this? blinds are for leases.. leases are a TOTALLY different type of hunting and thats why i will NEVER be on a lease.. ill own my own freakin land before i do that BS

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
Its different here in virginia we do have permanent blinds but we pay like $25 to keep them each year and theres a limit of 2 per person but there all in deep water if you dont pay that year they go into a drawing and a new person gets a chance but then in the marshes we have float blind stakes were people hunt buy picking numbers each morning . I think its pretty fair for most people

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
both of you are right you can hunt anyone of those blinds, you cant permit or own blinds but your not gonna hunt the one they are going to. i guarantee your gonna have a fight on your hands. ive been there when its happened. i hunted with those guys for a couple years before i got tired of the bs and just quit going over there. all those guys around the management area are together, unless you got a boat full of 20 people ready to throw down your not gonna hunt it. only way your gonna hunt that blind is if you whoop all of em. i dont know how the people are on the lake else where but good luck over by the management area

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
The gw's have changed a bunch of times over the last 10 years. I think I know who you are talking about though...and he is a dick. The newest one seems to have his head on straight. He don't seem to have a problem writing tickets, but he's fair. He has also told us that the state owns the blinds...

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
I don't think they should be there at all. First come, first serve, period. You want to build a permanent structure that only you can hunt in, do it on your own land... I don't need to hunt in YOUR blind. I don't keep myself locked in to one area, I stay mobile. But if I scout, find the birds, and beat you to the spot, I'll be damned if you gonna tell me to move because you built something on PUBLIC land and think you can show up whenever you want...

Anyone have GPS coordinates for the Catahoula Lake Blinds they think are "owned" by some badass rednecks. I don't want to waste my time running around the lake looking for 'em.

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
The lake I hunt on has blinds everywhere, most of them are abandonded and haven't been used in years. You go in and replace the floor, put chairs in it, brush it, and then get to it at 3:00 only to have the owners get a wild hair to show up on opening day as the sun comes up to a blind the left un-huntable. If they don't throw a fit and want you to leave "thier blind" then they get hung on every stump trying to motor 100 yards away and set up, thus ruining the woodduck flight, and then they leave around 10:00 ruining the only flight of big ducks you may see.
I would be much happier if we all just had to hug a cypress tree.
