 Long shaft (32") on a GTR 35???
Hey fella's,
I'm bout to get a wide (62"), heavy boat. I heard that the wider boat likes a longer shaft motor like a mudbuddy. I really want the GTR 35 for its instant reverse. My question is does anyone have a long shaft like a 32" on a GTR & if so how does it perform??? I plan on keeping the motor stock until the warranty runs out. I don't need raw speed with mods, but I'd like it to handle a load to the best of its ability until I get the mods, so, long or short shaft?
You guys that have had both a long shaft & a short shaft motor, what are the main differences in how they act??? Thanks in advance.

As for as shaft length gator tail has a 32" also as for as performance wise stickier mud the longer one works better but I run my 27" shaft 95 % of the time!!

Re: Long shaft (32") on a GTR 35???
If you are getting a 62 inch wide boat i would go ahead and get the 32 inch. I think the gatorhide is 60 somethin inches wide and everyone that puts a 32 inch shaft on them seems to be happier than with the 27. It keeps the prop running in clean water. Mudbuddy also offers a 40" shaft now. Not sure what the advantage really is but its an option. Seems like you might as well get a longtail.

Barrol you got it. I am getting a 3 man hide & I know its a heavy boat to say the least. I know i'll be getting the mods on the GTR sooner rather than later. Just was trying to make the decision on shaft length now that I know I can get the longer shaft on the GTR. Thanks for all the help fella's.
