Post Gtr breather nut comming loose
Ok so Ive got new rig and everytime I run it the damn big plastic nut that holds the breather cover on backs off!! Whats the quick fix. When it gets loose it starts rattling and it's driving me nuts. I have cranked the shit out of it and it still vibrates loose! 35gtr. I dont want to be looking for my cover on the side of the road!!

Drill a hole through both sides of the cover and zip tie them together would be an easy solution.

I'm thinkin about drilling a hole through the nut and cover where it overlaps and putting and pin or somthing in that rig

No place to put a lock washer. The nut doesn't bottom out on anything. It the big plastic nut with a nut inserted into it that holds the plastic over on.

Use some LocTite on it.

I see you're in LC, you should head over here to Port Neches Saturday & see what that motor can do.

I am the expert on this. Have replaced 3. I screwed the top to the base with 2 self tapping metal screws.

I trailer 800 miles each way. Duct tape all the way. 4800 miles and 40 something total running hours on two different motors this year.

After loosing the first one on my Pro Drive I over tightened the next one. Then the stud broke and I lost the bracket, filter and cover. Now I have a 6 in. piece of duct tape taped over the nut and it can't turn. Working great so far, cheap and quick too.

Wow, First off if you tighten it to tight it will snap the bolt and you will loose everything but the main backing plate like mentioned above. The simplest thing is tighten it up moderately. Then drill a 1/8 hole through the nut into the cover and install a 3/16 wood screw. If the cover still rattles take a small amount of grease and coat the edges of the metal backing plate and Chase the inside of outer lip of the black plastic cover with a small amount of clear silicone. Install and let cure. Done deal!
