 CCA star
So I have always heard of the CCA star tournament and the bad ass prizes you can win but never entered it and I was wondering if anybody here ever entered and if it was worth it in your honest opinions

 Re: CCA star
I will not give CCA any of my money, I wait for the day when there will be a tournament like the star, but not have to join the CCA to participate. I believe there will be one some day.

 Re: CCA star
Tagged redfish was caught in my GoDevil. I $hit you not! Tongthrower on here caught it in my boat during the star tourny 2010. Put my cousin on the 2nd place sheepshead in the kids division.

 Re: CCA star
I took some of the CCA stickers and put them on both sides of the foot of my trolling motor, I use it as a decoy . Trolling motor is being rebuilt right now though do any of yall have some stickers I can have. I will put them to good use.

 Re: CCA star
I remember CCA took a neutral position on the redfish deal. Is this correct? I do remember reading a article in the La. conservationist about some lady saying how horrible it was when she caught a red that had been hit low in the gut. Like letting a undersized red bleeding from the gills is any better.

 CCA star
CCA was the spear head (pun intended) on the red fish/bow fish ban. At some point, they did drop the ball, I think due to the bad publicity and membership drop.

 Re: CCA star
CCA Sponsors the largest fish kill across the state...
I supported them when they were GCCA as did many Louisiana residents I'm sure. Once they changed their platform I quickly became disgusted with their motives.

 Re: CCA star
Agreed, once most organizations see the big dollar signs they usually go to hell.

 Re: CCA star
I have supported CCA but upon moving a couple yrs ago, I havent renewed membership. From what I saw there are some at the upper levels that just look for a fight w/ some group all the time. The CCA does some good and as every other organization, they do some bad. I don't bowfish so that doesn't bother me. If I remember right, the main reason for being against the shooting of redfish was the size limit on the gamefish. If I catch a 15" red on a hook, most will survive. Don't know what the mortality rate is on a undersized red that is shot w/ an arrow but its gotta be a little high one would think. There are always 2 sides to the coin.

Personally I don't give a $hit. I can win a free boat, truck, and trailer.

 Re: CCA star
I have fished in the LA marsh for almost 20 yrs. I know a lot of you for longer. It is easy to get lost in the fact that the rest of the country doesn't have the same resources you do. You are in the Sportsman's Paradise. Some other states need an organization to promote sustaining the fishery. Not picking a fight, only another viewpoint.
