 Marine grade wire
Rewiring everything on my boat except the briggs harness. I was just wondering how many of you used the marine grade wire with the marine connectors or just used the home depot primary wire with marine connectors?

 Marine grade wire
I use 7-conductor made for trailers. It has more wires than you usually need and keeps everything neat. To tie a leg in, skin the sheating carefully and use a t-tap with dielectric grease. Or cut the respective wire a use a butt splice with grease.

 Re: Marine grade wire
When I wired mine I used all marine grade tinned wire and connectors. Got to much money tied in it to cheap out on the wiring.

 Marine grade wire
Here's a lil FYI for those whom are electrically challenged.
Keep in mind:
Amps=Watts/Volts

 Re: Marine grade wire
X2 on the tinned copper wire. something else that I do. Fill the connections with silicone. it makes for a water proof connection. I've also had success with dielectric grease. Don't waste your time with cheap heat shrink. The silicone does a much better job. However the ancor connectors with the heat shrink extensions do well.

 Re: Marine grade wire
So you still use the "marine" connectors but add silicon before the eire goes in? Im assuming your talking about 111 or the silicon that dries?

 Re: Marine grade wire
I usually use ancor marine wiring and regular connectors. Ancor sells a 3 wire bundle for bilge pumps and it works well for most of what I do. I was a car stereo installer for over a decade. If I was challenged with wiring I would use marine connectors and/or liquid electrical tape. I can typically find and resolve any electrical problems on my boat in minutes and carry anything i may need to repair on board.
If you want to add a switch panel I use an outdoor a/c disconnect box from lowes for @ $20. I cut out the front for a 4 or 6 panel and mount my ipod input and cig lighter under. Much cheaper than a panel box and the top hinges out for service.

 Re: Marine grade wire
Yea, i was looking at the wire bundles and stuff they sell. I like your idea with the switch panel. I have an older switch pane and will probably be upgrading it and my toggle switches. While i have everything torn apart. You can say im doing an off season overall that was needed badly.

 Re: Marine grade wire
Ditto on genuine dealz for wire. I use ancor heat shrink connectors.

 Re: Marine grade wire
Upgraded to marine grade wire after a saltwater short caused my nav light to go out. Incidentally cost me a ticket from green jeans as well.
