 Re: Mud buddy mini questions
are you speaking of the LA special? or the Mini HD Lite? they are two different frames, and the Mini HD lite does not come in a 35hp option. the LA special is either 35 or 23 hp, and is not 100lbs lighter than the standard. Difference is in the shorter, slightly smaller belt housing and standard 32'' outdrive.

 Re: Mud buddy mini questions
There is no such model as a mini 35. As GSU said, the LA special is not any lighter and it and the sport are the only 2 models available with a 35 hp motor.
And you wont get 28 out of a 27hp. 24-26 with a light load, yes.

 Re: Mud buddy mini questions
On the MB website it is still labeled as " New Mini 35" which is the "Louisiana special, other is mini hd lite.I run a 24 hp mini hd Lite 2 men light boat 24 mph. Hunting loads 19-22 mph on a 1542 beat up boat. So to get consistant 28 mph you would need to run a 35 hp.

 Re: Mud buddy mini questions
Ok yea I went on the web site and the LA special is called the mini 35 on there but, I was told that they are alot lighter but I guess the guy that told me that didn't know what he was talking about, the thing is I bought a 1548 wieldbuilt and was worried about a 35 being too heavy, some say it will be ok if I put gas tank a battery up front, I'm just trying to go for speed, I live on the mobile river delta, not a whole lot of mud but alot of shallow water so I'm not really going to be putting I'm whatever motor I buy to the test. Just wanting everyone's opinion on what setup will work the best for me

talk to Duckhunter251 on here, he has a modded 27hp mini HD lite he runs on at Gator trax 1544HD, but he used to run it bone stock on a 1548 G3.

 Re: Mud buddy mini questions
and the 23 la special is a double barrel bugger to change or even tighten the belt. you cant get to the upper 2 bolts. but is a good tuff motor, I had mine cammed up and and I think that it was money well spent. really woke mine up. took gov out and put a 5100 rev limiter in, and can bump it with a light load

 Re: Mud buddy mini questions
Use a distributer wrench to tighten the bolts behind the clutch.
Swamprat, you keep running those high rpm's with stock piston rods, & tightening a belt will be the least of your problems.
