If you don't what the reverse plate don't but it!! I ran mine for six years with out one !! As for as r&d goes 100 different versions have been used by different customers trough the years! If you want a Lil extra boost and keep the mud put spends $200 and get it!! Shit don't make them selves nor does they get them for free!!

Yep, completely optional. The option being have a reverse that jets water over your transom and is barely better than an outboard reverse, or put the reverse plate on and get extra power and less water thrown into the boat.

The plate itself may have been well thought out, but the motor wasn't or else the plate would have been there from day one. Point is that the customers were the guinea pigs and now GT can hit them for another $200 on what should be standard.

However when MB does the same thing that GT does they are evil and have crap customer service, but with something like the reverse plate everyone praises GT for being such a great company. If memory serves there were threats of voided warranties from GT for people using aftermarket reverse plates before they "approved" the design.

As much as I hate to admit its gtr. It all depends on where you run. If you are gonna bury you boat in roso's to hunt get a pd. if you are gonna run marsh mud gtr.

It's a solid platform no doubt. But it depends on what you use it for, all I've seen up here are MB's and and home builds and I've never seen one stuck, except for the time we beached on a sandbar. We don't have marsh mud, most places don't for that matter. I just get tired of seeing the same shit ran on MB when GT does the same shit. It seems most have forgotten that Kyle threatened a engineering student not so long ago for building a MM for a school project. They are businesses, they all lie, cheat, and steal to get ahead or else they wouldn't still be around.

I know that's the main reason, but these companies ship. For our area I don't think you could beat a MB not surprisingly since they were designed up here, and i have never heard any thing bad about their customer service or in general except for on this site. Amazingly most of the negative remarks come from your neck of the woods, so I guess we are geographically divided.
