 Re: rear huntdeck add on
are you wanting to cut it out in the hull you have now, or add on?

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
I intend to build a huntdeck and weld it to my boat. I'm gonna make it look nice, like it was built there from the factory.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
Why waste your time with a piece of shit boat, sell it and get a boat that was actually built for the motor you are trying to put it on. GDSD on a huntdeck isn't a good idea anyway.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
Nope. The way the trim and shit works though would not be well suited for a huntdeck though. Why do you think GD doesn't offer a boat with one? They have fallen pretty far behind with the motor market, but their boats do seem to perform well with their motors. They put the r&d in to make that happen.

Piece of shit!....what a dickhead. I don't run south la marsh every weekend. I don't need some souped up mud boat. I'll be easing through the timber and bayous of the ms delta with limits of mallards. Prob going slow too, grinning, loving my war eagle. So Fuck you!

Not the first time I've been called that and certainly won't be the last. I'll grow on you though. Or not. I gave you some good input, take it for what you will. We've been down this road before, bud. A hull built for your motor will perform better and last longer.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
It may be shit when I get done, but its been tough so far. If it don't suit me when finished ill move on to the next boat. Really don't want to spend the money for a mud hull for a rig I only use during duck season. Now, if I lived in la and had all those awesome swamp opportunities,, I'd have a bad ass setup. Mud boat all the way.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
You're going to turn it into scrap metal in the process though man. You are really better off selling it now before you hack it up.
I don't live in LA, or run the marsh, but I have fucked up some boats that were not meant for mud motors and lost a lot of money in the process because the boats weren't worth shit when I was done with them. Believe it or not, but you will spend less money in the long run by putting that motor on the right boat now.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
Fucking stumps and a lot of em where I'm at. I run a custom built boat with a 3/16 bottom and a considerable amount of bracing. I'm not saying that's what you need, but that war eagle is not a good boat for your motor. It's not braced properly for the situations you will put yourself in with a mudmotor, they are usually thinner material, and mod-v's in general do not perform well with these motors.

 rear huntdeck add on
Well I can say for a fact that cb is wrong about a GDSD not working on a huntdeck. He's also a douche, but you already knew that. I can trim my motor and turn just fine while sitting in my seat. Cb's just pissed off because he recently learned that God is watching him...

^ I never said it won't work, I said it isn't ideal and it isn't. That's my opinion. And I'm a douche? Really? Coming from the guy who runs around posting "frog" on every fucking thread on the forum. Whatever, Cooter.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
I will settle this dispute when the work is complete. I do understand that my boat is not braced properly to suit most mud motor enthusiast, but like I said, if it performs at 75% it'll be better than the 25zuki that I been spinning 3 props/yr on. Sent from my PB99400 using Tapatalk 2

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
Have fun with it. There isn't really a dispute to settle. Cooter is a fucking retard and he put a gdsd on a boat with a huntdeck. Still doesn't make it ideal. Several people run PD's on huntdecks too, that isn't ideal either. Look at what the manufactures put their motors on...

Put's what on huntdecks? Gatortrax builds boats not motors, they'll build your boat however you pay them to build it and put whatever motor you want on it.

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
Can you do it? yes Will it propel the boat forward? yes
Does it make sense? NO Is it a smart thing to do? NO
Sorry if those are not the answers you want to here, but you are the one that posted up the question-don't yell at someone for telling you the truth..
Bottom line, you can do it and it will get you around, but you are wasting a lot of money and would be MUCH better off getting rid of that boat and doing it with a different boat.... Probably could sell your boat and find something a lot better to fix up and not be out anymore money... Look what autogateman did.....
The problems are two fold with that boat. One it is not designed for a SD motor in any way shape or form, and two it is a mod V... two major strikes and you want to compound the problem by adding a hund deck to it... Strike three....
There have been a ton of people chase this same scenario only to spend a lot of money and eventually learn what you are having the priviledge of hearing before you go down that path. Do what you will with that priviledge.
You can stick your head in the sand and tell us we are all stupid for answering your question with the truth.... or you can take the advice for what it's worth and move on.....
Frankly, I am really sick of newbies coming on here and asking questions and then arguing with the answers. You get what you deserve.
Either way, good luck on your endeavor...

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
hey lulu, heres some good info for you,my neighbor has a modv war eagle/35sd. he switched the gd prop to a 2 blade mb bigblade and it made him a world of difference. i guess maybe the fatter blades on the prop gave the boat more lift, less boat in the water and ran faster by a couple mph. still was a pig when loaded though. your boat will never be as good as a mud hull but it'll hunt

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
it seems like everyone thinks that once you put a huntdeck on a boat the false transom is where the boat stops... its not a big deal in my boat with a huntdeck to turn around and step on the huntdeck to access the motor etc, thats one of its design features. in fact everytime i start my motor i turn around and step on it. also i dont see how it would be much more difficult to reach over the huntdeck to work the trim on a gdsd esp if its being built for the specific application and thats kept in mind during fabrication. ITS YOUR BOAT TIME AND MONEY, DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT!!

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
You can do some searching on here and find the answers man. A boat like yours will not let you get the full potential of your motor. Yes it'll work but not near as well as putting it on the kind of boat it was made for. If you don't have the money then ya gotta do what you can with what you have. But if possible, selling your boat and picking up a good used mud hull will serve you much better.

 rear huntdeck add on
I'll chime in, what the hell.
Had a 1544 mod V excel viper hull. Had a 40hp and got 30+ mph. Ran great. Had a jack plate and it worked fer a couple years. This spring I got my 27hp PD. put er on it and got 19 mph MAX outa it. It barely planed out. Since I already had the boat it didn't hurt ta try it on there. Would I have added a hint deck or any other money into it? Hell no. After doin every tweak I could with the motor and weight distribution in the boat from movin batteries and gas tank I got rid of it. It didn't work. Adding weight made it horrible.
Ordered me my 1842 Alweld and wham! 25 mph on a boat that is 3 feet longer! Is it a "true mud hull", no. However I have in my 15 years of runnin boats never had a dent in my hull in any of my boats. I know the places I hunt better than most and take it easy when necessary. Could I get a dent, ya but it's doubtful.
Take it fer what it is but it's a lost cause. BTW, what are yer speeds now??

 Re: rear huntdeck add on
I have always had a hard time understanding this, explain to me what makes a War Eagle so much stronger and better than say a weld-bilt or alweld? I know where a 1648 War Eagle with a 35MBSD is right now, one season of use and its trashed. Can you guess what conditions he was running in? Yes, that GDSD will push that War Eagle but you are pissing in the wind spending any type of money on it instead of upgrading to a real mans hull. That War Eagle is made to do just what you described... run deep water and idle through the stumps and woods every once in a blue moon when you hunt WITH A 25 SUZUKI on the the back!!! Why do you even think you need a huntdeck?
