 Re: bps or super nova?
Something about a pump - makes you re-aquire target after shooting and racking her back - I am about 75% deadly with first shots and even higher second shot kill percentage....
With an auto still 75% first shot but much lower second shot kill percentage - take doubles and triples pretty regulary even out of 5 or 6 bird groups that work in with my 3" BPS or old Mossberg 500....
Outshoot almost every autoloader owner that hunts with me every time out in the field - and a box of shells lasts me 3 or 4 hunts - where they need more than a box on every hunt - LOL

 Re: bps or super nova?
Giga if that was true every professional sporting clay and trick shooter would shoot pumps!! Actually a auto has less recoil which helps in getting back on target quicker!!

 Re: bps or super nova?
DDM - If that were true every professional sporting clay and Olympic shooter would shoot an autoloader....
Only guy that regularly outshoots me carries a Browning Over and Under and I swear he can reload so fast that if you blinked you would miss it we have had the GW race over to find that unplugged gun several times because between us we kept a steady volly going into passing geese and broke wing cripples like we were shooting full auto Saiga drum fed pieces....
PS - Ever seen Tom Knapp shoot his pump ??? Seems he can get back on target pretty darn quick ! ! !
World Record Achieved On July 19, 2000 Tom Knapp, with his pump Shotgun in one hand, threw eight clay targets in the air with his other hand and broke every one of them with individual shots in an amazing 1.87 seconds creating a Manually Operated Pump-Gun classification.
LOL

 Re: bps or super nova?
I've shot skeet tournaments with both a pump and auto, and my scores were always higher with the pump. I'm just more comfortable with a pump, but some folks rather an auto. It's all personal preference and what's most comfortable to the person shooting.

Terry you ever shot at Southern Shooting on the Thibodaux bypass rd? When I worked for Dolphin we had tournaments there, and it's a real nice place also.

 Re: bps or super nova?
Mossberg 835 Ultimag. Why use anything else wif steel shot. The barrel was built for it. The only thing I might like more would be the mossberg 935. Mine shoots #2 shot best. Always 3 1/2" during duck season. I never wish I had a little more. The only issue I have ever had wif my gun was when the spring in the magazine rusted out and broke into pieces in the middle of the season and I had to change it.
And I never shoot anything but estate shells. The others cost too much.

 Re: bps or super nova?
Get one of each! I bought the Supernova two seasons ago and it has been flawless- ever since I put the shims in to adjust the stock I haven't missed much. I have four BPS's, and I plan to use the 20 gauge model this season a lot more- teamed up with a new 20 gauge Benelli Nova. I started with autos, and have worked back to the very reliable pumps, I mean they are consistent. I plan to add a venerable Remington Wingmaster next year. The pump has made me a better, more deliberate shooter, and yes, once in a while you get bruised up but not that bad. Unlike some, I actually favor the bottom loading BPS and the top thumb safety, and the Browning is certainly better-looking. On the wish list down the road are the Ithaca and Winchester pumps.
