 Polymer
Last weekend during a bowfish n tournament here in IN on the Wabash river, I scratched and dented the heck out of my boat. The ? Is putting polymer on the bottom worth doing or not. I run 90% in rivers with a hard bottom and rocky which sucks. I was running with a airboat and jets in the river and they had nothing on me, EXCEPT the air boat had poly.
But the air boat being heavier and higher with the fan couldn't go everywhere that I could. Anyways, is it worth it or not?

 Re: Polymer
The goods You'll be able to hit chit and not really half to worry much.
The bads You get to drill a million holes in the bottom of your boat. Your going to half to be able to reach all the bolts that will be in the poly from the inside of your boat. Your going to gain weight. You'll half to replace it every so often if your smashing a bunch of rocks.
But either way it's nice!!!

 Re: Polymer
Diamondback airboats said they could do it for $1800, installed.
Speed, don't care. River at night, not smart to run fast Holes, they put them in airboat hulls every day. Replacing, what bolts or poly?
Has anyone wore the bottom that thin to replace a hull?

 Re: Polymer
I have a 1442 with a sheet of UHMW plastic on it. Its 1/4" thick and weighs less than a sheet of .090" aluminum. I use hurricane deck bolts with neoprene washer with 3m silicone cualk. works like a dream. It might look like fidos ass but I slide off rocks 10x easier than aluminum. Im on 3rd year with it and it just has light scratches. Super slick stuff, I had to put bunk rails on my trailer to keep it from sliding off. $210 for sheet of plastic, $50 for bolts and washers, and 2 tubes of caulk $15. If its a river boat she aint gonna stay pretty anyways.

 Re: Polymer
Call crown plastics and order .125" sheetsnof uhmw that has been treated on one side. Buy you 5 gallons of 3m 5200. Sand bottom of boat with 80 grit using a da sander. Clean it off with acetone and smear the 3m on the boat and poly with a trowel. Apply The poly to the boat and put sand bags all over for 5-7 days to allow curing. Thatnpoly ain't coming off and it weighs about 100 lbs total installed. When the poly is in the water it is boyount so weight is not an issue. The poly I got from them was slicker than any I have felt on an airboat.

 Re: Polymer
I decided, it's going on. Got a guy in MI going to install but haven't decided which way as of yet. For thd weight issues, instead of 4 people, I'll take 3. That cuts off 200+ right there.....
With all the SD boats on this site, are there any that have put it on?

 Re: Polymer
I had it on my boat and installed it on 8 others back when I was doing EVT. Put it on square, tapered and round chine boats from 16' to 20' long. I loved it.

 Re: Polymer
I have it on the bottom of my boat. 1860 with about 600 screws with teflon nuts. I like it. It protects from rocks.

 Re: Polymer
Snds like u got ur boat/GTR loaded up, sweet!
We pulled/drove over a lot of sand/rock ripple areas on Friday for Bowfishing and wanted to go further but those rocks on the hull just made me cringe with the sound. The fish just stack in them, maybe they know they are safe from all aluminum hulls.

 Re: Polymer
Now, just need someone close to Indianapolis, IN to put it on. I'm going to tap and bolt after reading 100's of post.
Know of any one close to me, let know and they got a job. If I don't sell the rig first.......

 Re: Polymer
What if the hull is already dented, will the glue fill a1/4" void?

 Re: Polymer
Get you some gorilla tape and thick plastic, and vacuum seal that bitch on there, and throw a bunch of sand bags on top. That poly wont go anywhere.
