Post Hydraulic hoses for PD trim
I remember reading on here but can't find it. Has anyone replaced their hoses with a standard black rubber hyd hose instead of the braided SS. Mine has a pin hole leak and the local shop can make a standard hose for a hell of alot cheaper than a braided SS.

Replaced both of the stainless with black 2 seasons ago and still in good shape. Got them from a PD dealer.

Don't matter what they are as long as they are ratted for the pressure

Call PD they can tell ya what the PSI rating is -- I got mine from a hose place and they are holding up great.

You may be able to just take the old hose with you and they can tell ya what the rating is,

I just replaced mine as well. I talked to the pump manufacturer at one point. I can't remember what the sytem pressure was but as far as hydraulics go it is very little. I would reccomend a 3000 psi line which should handle the pressure just fine.

Awhile back I was "tinkerin" on mine and stepped in the dog sh!t by cutting a thick zip tie w/ pocket knife and it slipped cutting the ?@&! reverse hose so I pulled it and took it to hyd shop. Well low and behold they do every hose but them mf'ers, "we can build it with a little bigger braided line" they say, I GOTTA HAVE BOAT so what turned out was now my reverse is about TWICE as fast as before! I've seriously considered changing the trim lines too but it ain't broke and don't need fixin' just yet. Any half decent hydraulic shop should be able square you away w/ old one in hand.

Bug I find it odd the larger hose made the reverse faster, but it's pretting interesting. What size hose did you end up putting on. Thanks

Bugs is faster now, must be the volume of fluid, not pressure that matters here. Not sure on the size but plan on upgrading mine as well on reverse. I think trim might be too hard for minor adjustment if its to fast.

I would think the 45 deg. #4 JIC to 1/8 NPT fittings would be the limiting factor on flow/volume not the hose.

We're half way in to our season here. I think I will give it a try when season closes and compare. If it does speed things up it would be pretty cool.

I'll swing by hyd shop to check just which line and fittings they used. I agree w/ you about the fittings and as soon as I ran it afterward I called KP just to run it by him he said something like "faster is good, should'nt be a problem". It seems just as strong as before just quicker. I've been runnin' it everyday since (about 4 months) without any trouble. Here's a couple pics, maybe you'll recognize something parts wise...
