Based on what I have experienced in the last 4 months I have developed the following short list of my take on the short tail mud motors. I own a Dixie and love it but I appreciate the ingenuity and quality of all of the builders.

Pro Drive:
Extremely well built and engineered motor. I wish the reverse was instant like on an outboard.

Gator tail
Extremely well designed and engineered. This guy thought of everything. ONE BAD ASS MOTOR.

Mud Buddy
No comment. But nice looking motor

Go devil
Funny I was going to buy a Go devil short tail originally but did not like the person on the phone.

Dixie
I own a Dixie and love it. Best horse power - cost ratio in the industry.

Copperhead
Looks like another good value. I would only consider the 18 VG but it’s expensive.

over 300 hrs on the prodrive and Ive never been left stranded mechanically......running battery down and running out of fuel, thats a different story.

I like my mud buddy. I liked my pro drive. I have enjoyed driving other peoples boats with other brands. I like my minn kota trolling motor. I like my Dads tohstsu, i like my buddies Yamaha. I liked my gmc, im okay with my Ford.

I dont like douchbaggery and this place just fills up with it. I sometimes wish i had more work to do at work...
