Picked up a 7 month old female Boykin. Looks like she's pretty much lived her life in an outside kennel. It's her first night but she's super skidish. Also she's is absolutely covered in ticks! Anyone know of something I can dip her in to kill the ticks? Aka said to use happy jacks kennel dip. Anyone ever tried it?

Thanks. She's starting to warm up to us. Local feed store recommended a liquid kinda like frontline but more for ticks. I can't remember the name and I threw away the package. Gave it to her about 4 hours ago and they're starting to fall off of her pretty good. Gonna give her some time to get use to me then start seeing if she wants to hunt

I hope so. Supposedly her parents both hunt. I can't get her to chase or retrieve anything ball sock toy nothing. I know I've only had her a couple days so that's probably all it is. I'm sure this is a huge shock for her but she is starting to open up and play more. Today she was jumping on my 120lb German Shepard slapping him in the face

Mine likes pro plan. I use a mixture of wet and dry b4 the hunt bc mine wouldnt eat b4 the hunt. Now 1/4 can wet and half scoop feed. Not too much, don't wanna him feel full

I put her on pro plan. Shes already looking better and has some energy now. Got her retrieving tennis balls and bumpers and she looks like she has some drive so we will see how it goes. Trying to take it slow with her right now

Little update. She's doing great so far. Went through obedience and have moved into force fetch. She is a fast learner and wants to please. She's up to 40 lbs now

Others are breeding bt her litters are proven. Yea there are some high dollar breeders out there bt hers are still on top. I'd have to look in last months Boykin magazine. Bt I believe she had 5 of the top 8 boykins. Well the 5 were pups from chief.

Force fetch is very helpful. My dog ran from the sight of a dummy when I first got her. Now she can't fetch enough, she's an addict.
