Post Dog Friendly Hotels
In the wake of the most recent events of one hunter losing his dog at a hotel, I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to know that there are some dog friendly hotels out there.
This website will give you a list by state.
http://dogfriendly.com/

Some places will charge you a pet deposit and some have a size limit.

I will tell you that LaQuinta Inn and Suites, does not request a deposit and does not have size limits. We use them all the time when traveling for DockDog events. In fact, they are DockDogs' hotel partner.

Please try to stay at Laquintas when traveling with your dogs. It could save their lives and you much heartache.

Hampton inn is pet friendly and I don't think they charge a fee or size limit. Stayed at one in Burkeburnette TX (north of whichita falls) and asked them if they allow Pets and the lady said they didn't used to but they had a lot of loyal wealthy customers threaten to stop using Hampton inn because of this. So we had our chocolate lab ride on the elevator up to the room.

Always stay at a Laquinta. Nice place and dog friendly. No charge.

Get one of these and EVERYWHERE is pet friendly with no fees or size restrictions!

Not only that, Americans with Disabilities Act says you don't have to prove it and they're not allowed to ask for an ID...

Don't do what CootSlayer says. All you are going to do is make it hard on the next guy with a real service dog.

My wife figured out that no matter what the "official" rules are many places let us stay with two labs when she says "we have two professionally trained dogs that sleep in crates and are never left alone". This works really well when you look at smaller places.

Haven't done it, just always wanted to because I like to take him everywhere with me. Just a thought, but I know it's ethically "questionable"...

Traveled with a service dog I was training. Lots of places were a pain even with the law on my side. (In most states a service dog in training has the same legal access as a finished service dog).

Now a days, a little work on the net and a few phone calls will get you a dog friendly place. Maybe costs you a few extra bucks but my dogs are worth it.

I've had good luck at Drury Inn. No size limit no deposit. They even save us a ground floor room.
