Post Re: BEWARE OF DIXIE
I'll tell my story, ordered a 35 Dixie last april, I talked to Ben over the phone and liked everything I heard from him, seemed to be a real nice and down to earth guy. So I placed my order and he gave me a 3 week build time, 6 weeks later my motor was ready to ship. I was very eager to get it and I stayed on him about a tracking number, the day it shipped we had a little trouble getting a tracking number he finally called me with one and when I went to track it I found that the destination was Pennsylvania and I live in south Alabama! Well it took a bunch of phone calls but we got it figured out. I received my motor and everything looked good from what I could tell, but this was my first mud motor. I rigged everything up and took it out. The first time I took it out it would not plane my boat off, I then realized that the prop was worn down and Ben said he was going to send me a new one ASAP. I received the prop a couple days later and took the boat out again, everything was going good then suddenly I started hearing a loud rattle/ vibrating noise, I took it back to the ramp and found the clutch cover had cracked on both sides all the way up, I called Ben and he was ver apologetic and said he would have another on the way. So I took the clutch cover off and and took the boat out again this time I was about 20 min from the ramp and a wire grounds out and fries every wire on the motor! This was the third time I have taken it out I was alittle pissed to say the least! I called Dixie again and told them to send me a new wiring harness with the clutch cover, and he did, I received everything and noticed the new clutch cover wasn't even welded together it's like the tacked it together but didn't finish? Well I put the wiring together and took it out again for the FOURTH time, everything was going good untill about 2 hours of riding and my motor come out of gear and stopped. Looked and discovered my clutch had burn up! So I'm getting pulled in again. Called Ben and he apologized for everything and volunteered to ship the motor back and take care of everything plus a few new things that he had changed up, so I agreed, all this happened within the first 5 hours on the motor! A week later ups picked up my motor and took it back to Georgia. A mounts in a half later my motor comes back. I noticed a new style clutch and trim. That he had " upgraded". Took the motor out that afternoon and everything went fine!, finally I thought it was all fixed. Woke up the next morning and went for a ride, about an hour later broke down again, this time a belt broke!, so I'm calling for another tow in. Called Dixie and he knew how pissed I was, he was pretty much asking me to cuss him out? All I wanted was a motor that worked! He sent a belt and when I put it on I found that the top and bottom pulley wasn't lined up causing the belt to walk. I shimmed it up on one side and thought I fixed the problem, which it was until the belt got alittle time on it and would stretch just alittle letting the belter walk again, after going through a couple belts I got pretty good at changing them out on the go so I would just keep a extra in the boat. Then I got a $500 dollar bill from ups from when the shipped my motor under warranty back to dixie and was trying to charge me for it????? After Ben agreed to pay for ALL shipping fees! I called again and he said he would take care of it, next day called me and said it was taken care of. So I took out my boat again even though I had to "baby sit the belt" I just had to be out there! When I got back to the ramp I noticed a small leak on my hydraulic cylinder and the discovered a small scratch at the very top??????? The next day before I called I checked the mail and found another bill from ups for $500...it was never taken care of the first time, I was pissed I called Ben and he sounded aggravated with me, we then had alittle spat that need up with him giving his credit card info to call ups myself and take care of, which I did. He also said that since I was still breaking belts and now had a scratch on my trim cylinder that it sounded like my frame was bent, so now he is sending me a new frame and trim. The next day I took the boat out again despite the leak and belt problem, a couple hours into the ride I hit a stump and break the prop shaft loosing the prop! That was my last straw! I called Ben again and told him I also need a lower unit with a prop! He agreed, I received everything a week later put it all together, thought that the belt problem was fixed! Sold everything and bought a Gator tail boat and motor and love it, no problems yet and great customer service!!!! And now know that the guy that bought the Dixie from me is still breaking belts and having problems!!!!WTF how's that for a bad experience?????

That sucks you got BENNED, but it's not far to pound on MIKE ,since he was not the man that screewed you ,or your bud brasso, MIKE didn't own the company at the time, making comment's about Dixie he should have stated that the unit was a Ben unit and not just Dixie ,Not playing fair, make's me wounder what his under line is and why he talk all this trash(BRASSO) we all want to now how products are working out for every one, wheather it's Dixie G.T. G.D. Etc, but when you come on a site and tell half the truth or not all the facts it's a waist of every one time,Mike's is a new owner trying to get thru all the crap Ben left behind. like i said stiring the pot or still mad at Ben, state the fact's ,and not half Bullshit good luck with the new rig.

Ok to all you idiots who can't read. He bought the shaft from MIKE. The shaft sent was too short!! Then MIKE says the buyer will just have to eat it and get a new shaft made. Then has to wait weeks for his refund. And won't return calls. This has gone on for months because I talked to him about it a long time ago. So it has nothing to do with him stepping into bens mess. He's doin the same shit to this guy. He shouldn't honor another guys word for the shit he put out. That's dumb business. I also agree he should change the name . So whoever said I'm one sided your damm right . The fact is that the people associated with Dixie have fucked this guy over many times. And I think it's bullshit. I don't care how much shit he did for y'all for free. Y'all prolly voted for Obama thats why y'all like getting shit for free instead of paying the man for his work.

I see it like this... If you knew you was buying a company that had major issues like that , it is new owner responsibility that he inherited and up to him to make right any motor that left shop should have his seal of approval that the product he is selling is not deficient in any way, just my 2 cent

Post Re: BEWARE OF DIXIE
dont matter what owner he bought it from he bought it from dixie! you cant take over a business and just say well it wasnt while i owned it and just kick them to the curb. he took the business he took the motors already sold! should have done more research before he bought the name. he dont wanna honor those motors he should have changed the name before selling one motor. i bought my motor from gatortail, kyle sells out and my motor is still under warranty it better get worked on by gatortail no matter who owns the company get my drift? mike may be a good dude and try to straighten out whatever mess he has, but he cant go by that was bens motors and these are his, no he is dixie now so all the motors are his!

Post Re: BEWARE OF DIXIE
I received this in text after talking with Mike on this issue.

Need to call bullshit on the only reason I sent the check was because he said something on MMT ,I sent the first check out on march 15,he told me the shaft was no good on march 13.(2days) the check was returned about 8 days later .wrong address. On Tuesday I sent him the check again.BEFORE this was ever posted the same day I sent him a tx with a pic of the check and also it was $180 the whole time not $200. Not that it matters and u can call bullshit on weather it's a Ben frame or my frame , I have fixed everybody's stuff that has been in warranty and most Everybody who's hasn't.

U can copy and post it if u like " from the horses mouth". Also just for facts I didn't buy the company just the equipment and shop . I didn't have to warranty anything. Dixie manufacturing LLC , I stayed with Dixie name because I have more respect for the people who own a Dixie and more respect for the dealers who work there ass's off to help get the company where it is . Highs and lows. I also couldn't run out on all the people who love there motors, no we are not perfect but u can't knock a man who is improving everyday.

In his post he said he pretty much he was keeping the name for the already established dealer network and the name recognition that was already out there built by the previous owner. That is the case, the bad motors floating around are his, just like the other "perks" he was trying to retain. If you buy a dixie, great, but unlike the sport v, the negititive posts on this forum about that motor have been proven already. Things may change, but it prolly won't.

Neither one of us is arguing. I agree with everything you said in your last post.

My only point was the new owner should be on the hook for his own actions.

Everybody is talking in circles and making me dizzy! Bottom line in my opinion (which if you read my book from earlier you would see why) the name Dixie is ruined...I see it like the Kia Sophia of mud motors! If someone sees all of the unhappy customers and bad reviews but still want to buy a Dixie let them! The way I look at it if you can afford a brand new Dixie, you can save your money just a little longer and buy a proven motor, kinda a no brainer. But I guess I can't say much cause I did the same shit...learn from my mistakes!
