Fishing St. Marks Florida? Tips, suggestions, etc
Calling all Fla people. I will be traveling to St. Marks Florida on Friday to do some fishing this weekend. St. Marks is due South of Tallahassee. We'll be staying actually at a hotel in Crawfordville.. http://www.innatwildwood.com/Any of you Florida boys want to share fishing information I would be grateful. I'll only be there this weekend and promise not to share details with anyone. From looking at the geography of the place, it seems like mostly tidal estuary fishing. Might even be a good spot to use a mud motor rig, too.

I have been told that the surf fishing in the area is outstanding. You need to get some 3 day old Bonita and tie them to you belt. Wade out to the second sand bar about an hour before dark and wait.

Re: Fishing St. Marks Florida? Tips, suggestions, etc
Well, we decided to fsh some numbers offshore Sat and Sun. I am beat up from the rough seas. Caught a few Spanish Mack and large King, but that's it. The boat is not for shallows. I must say, what you St. marks area fishermen call bottom structure ain't much compared to fishing in Louisiana coastal waters, but I was told that there are cracks in the bottom that hold fish and these areas won't show up much on the scanner. Will be back weekend of July 4th. Beautiful area BTW. Got drunk at Riverside, Ooutz Too, and another bar the name of which I can't remember. Thanks to Bugs, Lee, etc for your help.

Yeah, St. Marks is pretty flat, not much structure. Mainly good inshore fishing when the weatherman doesn't completely miss the wind forecast! I heard many complain how rough it was out there this past weekend.

Re: Fishing St. Marks Florida? Tips, suggestions, etc
The Memorial Day weather forecast sure did suck for boating. Planned on 4 days in Grand Cay at Rosie's Place filling the boat with Yellow Eye's, Muttons, grouper, and possibly some Yellowfins. Eight foot seas with 5 second intervals changed that plan. Don't need to re-break my neck trying to cross in that mess.
