My attempt at some duck hunting poetry.
You walk into a convience store only to be stared at Wearing face paint while dressed in flip flops buying a red bull, trying to stay awake and everyone still thinks you’re a terrorist Confused as to why you are dressed the way you are they brush you off with merely a thought "Another one of those crazy hunters" Why do we do this? The late nights and the early mornings The cold wind and rain The complaining girlfriend and wife The loss of sleep and the long weeks at work The constant threat of equipment failure and last minute no-shows The worries of blue bird skies and not enough wind Why do we do this? Because the lure of a morning spent in a duck blind among friends is just to strong, to pure the camaraderie felt between individuals is never stronger one common purpose can be shared by strangers and friends a like Everyone sits still as the first of mornings sun start to warm your bones All around you the world suddenly seems alive Full of possibilities for the day As the minutes tick by, closing in on the moment of truth Your pulse quickens and your fingers tighten their grip on your most faithful of objects. Shooting time: Why do we do this? Because at this moment all becomes clear As one group you act in unison and in this moment you are defined the lure of being a duck hunter in purist of the ultimate game bird is just to great. The greatest of emotions are felt at this time You realize who you are and how you must react in an instant For the quarry is close and now you are alive All the time and effort that is put into this adventure finally rings home. I am a duck hunter and this is my moment

The poor duckhunter in his blind Chilled in front and wet behind It's seven hours since he fed And twenty since he's been to bed
It cost him several hundred bucks To hide himself from silly ducks Which presently ere day dawns dim Will rise and hide themselves from him

Re: My attempt at some duck hunting poetry.
Thanks guys. I used to write a lot, but haven't recently. This last teal hunt (4 limits) inspired me. Hopefully more to come this season.
