I've been shooting em for years, I like em, they kick a tad more but they knock down birds, Normally you can find them cheap online, this year im going to try out kent teal steel , I haven't heard of them before

 Re: Rio Shells?
I can get 3" for $10 a box. That's pretty cheap in my book.

 Re: Rio Shells?
The teal steel is sort of a gimmick, you can get their regular steel loads with the same shot charge and higher velocity for less money. I've used the rios but not used enough of them to tell you they're great, I've only used them on teal.

 Re: Rio Shells?
Ive shot rio a long time ago can't say if they were good cos my shooting wasn't. Side note.... I'm sold on those Game bore/ Kents now, nothing wrong with them at all, not sure they'll be my main ammo but see what the price is next year

 Re: Rio Shells?
I've never used a RIO shell for waterfowl, but I'd like to. However, I use RIO 1oz of 7.5's @ 1210fps for sporting clays... I buy several flats at a time. When I first started using RIO I cut one open, the shot was nice and round, uniform hard lead. Stuff like you find in Win AA. It's not the top of the line, but it's definitely good quality for the money. What makes it a lower quality than others is the hulls, they aren't ones you'd want to reload compared to say a Rem hull. But if you don't reload, it won't matter to ya.

 Re: Rio Shells?
This will be my 4th year shooting rio. Been shooting between 2-4 cases a year both #8 high brass dove loads and steel shot outa the same gun, xtrema 2, and have never had a problem out it. In the steel shot I usually shoot 3" #3's & 4's, they pattern well and and are priced right but have been going up steady. I used to pay like $70 for a case of high brass dove and $85 a case of steel. Last year I paid $85 for the dove and $120 for the steel.
