Whats a good method to get my dog on the whistle. Excersises yall think I should try?

after i taught my dog sit, i put a chain choke collar on her and a leash and walked backwards facing her in my yard, every time i said sit, it was a chain tug and a single blow in the whistle, every time i said here, it was a chain tug and a multiple whistle blow.

There are several good programs available to train your dog with. Wolters will work but it is somewhat antiquated. The newer popular training programs are:

Although there is nothing wrong with it, this is not the traditional way to cast a dog from a sit. Most handlers only use arm casts for this and not a whistle. Straight out for"over", straight up for "back", then whatever degree you need for an "angle back". Most use voice, with an arm cast to drive the dog back through suction (scent, decoys, etc).

Like I said, there is nothing wrong with the two whistles with a cast. It just isn't really necessary and is not the way the vast majority of handlers do it.

i only use the whistle for sit and here, i dont use it for anything else (in fear it will consfuse them)

First off the whistle (tweet) = sit one , (tweet tweet tweet)= here here here same shit very understandable for a dog

Now casting hand signals (over) silent hand signal (angle backs) silent hand signals (left and right straight backs) verbal back to drive hard and dig straight back. Now say the dog past the bird and he's off line ten fifteen feet u would give a tweet tweet tweet here whistle with an over cast u never want to blow whistle for dog to move that sounds ignorant bull shit

One thing I've learned after years of running hunt tests and now field trials is that if the handler/trainer is consistent then the dogs usually do well, no matter how unconventional the methods.
I do agree that a toot-toot vs a trill could be confusing to the dog, especially at longer distances or with a wind. In field trials it is not unusual at all to be handling dogs on blinds that approach 500 yards. Certainly 300 - 400 yard blinds are very common. If you are hunting rice fields or bean fields those distances happen also.

Easiest I found is close ta pintail99. First when yer walkin teach em ta sit when ya stop. Next say sit as ya stop and blow the whistle. Repeat a few days of short sessions and then just use the whistle. Next step use just the whistle without the leash.

you can do it on check cord while you're doing basic obedience, tell them sit, single whistle blast, sit. another good way is when you start baseball to get the dog all fired up and then fake a throw towards second to get the dog moving that way, then give the single whistle blast. dog will sit and then throw towards whichever base you want, another single blast, and then the send them on the hand signal. you can do that for a few days until the dog starts to pop. by then the dog will be far enough along on hand signals that you can remote sit them at the pitchers mound and continue working on them.

Just took on my buddies 8month old yellow lab. Pretty much gotta start him from scratch. This sucker is one of the goofiest labs I have ever encountered. His paws are the size of my palm. Weighs 75lbs already. Gunna be a huge dog.
