Re: WAX LAKE let the Bidding begin
Mixed bags r nice. And I only shoot 2 green heads a year probably, with s few widgeon here and there, couple cans and reds. I kill mostly grays, green wing but I don't ever have to put up with the dumb shit

Re: WAX LAKE let the Bidding begin
I live in ms so I'm not familiar with the wax but it sounds like the public land up here...a bunch of weekend warriors and jackasses that ruin it for the serious hunters...almost makes you want to give up hunting public land

The wax is just different from hunting any other place. I have plenty of places to hunt but its just were I love to be

Re: WAX LAKE let the Bidding begin
They did just with all the pressure they went out far out and never came back in. One thing about the wax the birds are smarter than the hunters. They Adapt pretty quick to different things.

Re: WAX LAKE let the Bidding begin
The very reason those "yahoos" go out there is bc they get on the www and see ppl posting pics of a good hunt and says its been killed at the wax. BAM next thing u know they have a new born wax super hunter that piles 5 guys in a 14x36 jon boat with a 6.5 hp longtail. Jmo.
Now the bidding thing is total bullshit to me. Been hunting out there all my life and think it should be first come first serve on that bitch. Good people will be left without a spot for their camp bc of this and I will be pissed if I am one of those ppl.
Sent from my GTR...yep, it can do this too.

Re: WAX LAKE let the Bidding begin
I might start another thread on this, but it seems to me that duck hunting has gotten to the point where it's prohibitively expensive for the average guy to hunt. One has to almost have a private lease or his own property to hunt. So, since all ducks are public property belonging to no one, anywhere they are enticed to go should be subject to rules setting aside hunts for the public. For example, flooded rice ponds, marsh, corn fields, etc. I say, everyone who has access to or owns land on which they intend to hunt ducks, has to declare that area "duck hunting property", kind of like DMAP areas for dear. If I have a 5 acre pond on my property on which I hunt ducks, I'd have to make it available to the public. Of course there would be limitations...number of hunters, days, etc. Say you have a three, two man blinds on it, then maybe one of them would be designated the public's blind. I would be in favor of also granting the land owner immunity from liability for any accidents.
To enforce this, no one could hunt any property, not even his own, without applying for and receiving confirmation from the state that he has declared it "duck hunting property". So F all the wealthy land and lease owners; they'd have to share, too.
