Stayed at my buddies house on Ramrod Key during the 2 day mini season. We got our 5 person limit (30) in 4 hours on day 1 and 2 hours on day 2. We caught them freediving since we were finding them in 7-10 feet deep. My buddy put on a tank once just because we found a hole that was loaded and it was taking to long to weed out the shorts. I did manage to stick one lion fish. Re: Anyone else do any lobstering? We got after them pretty good this year, but nothing like last year. Our first hole (Gulfside, Marathon) had 33 legals. After that it was a slow but steady pick; I think the next best hole had 9 legals. Last year we had holes with 35, 32, 28, 22. . .
The bugs this year were either at least 1/8" over legal size or 1/8" under. Hardly any "barely legals." Not as many lobster this year, either. Here's a video from 2012. It wasn't as good this year so I'm having a tough time getting motivated to do another video. Pause it and let it load completely before playing in HD or it will be choppy. http://vimeo.com/46790514 On the upside we did shoot some really nice reds in 8' of water. Had a 24" and a 26" plus a bunch from 20-22". 22 and 24" 20 and 26" |

Re: Anyone else do any lobstering? I did it back in the 90's in Southern California. It was a lot of fun. I don't remember the limit being very large though.
