havent really seen to many yet. but there arent any in the private pond by my house i can work him in.

Made his first hunt this weekend at 10 months old. First duck he ever retrieved was still alive and wings beating him and didn't care for it to much but by the end of the weekend he was look like a champ. Even had one blind retrieve with no correction after released.

Those first retrieves are the best. Its at this point your dog's behavior branches in either of two directions...pain in the ass frustration or pride beyond imagination. I hope for your sake, its the later.

My Boykin really caught on in her last few hunts the previous season, and picked up where she left off this teal season without a hitch. Took her on her first dove hunt, and she loved the hell out of it, never seen her run so fast. Sure is fun watching them succeed, and all your training come together.

Mine aren't but we have no issue with retrieving birds. If he's happy with the stage of training his dog has so be it.

I think the pup has lots of potential. I just think the owner is retarted and most dogs reflect there owner lmao

The way I see the word blind retrieve: this weekend my dog was sleeping in blind bc we hadn't shoot anything in 45 mins. A teal flew in I shot it and he woke up and in which I released him and he came back with a duck. To me that is a pretty blind retrieve
I "release" my dog via his name on every retrieve wether it be marked or blind. On blinds I "release" him in the direction I want him to begin , once he stops and give me the where the hell now look I will either send him back or hand directions
He did very good to ME, and pick up MY ducks. I honesty dont care what you think or how You train YOUR dog.
