Oil Refinery Operations just as busy as allways just not turning much of a profit like in recent years. We probably won't get our end of da year christmas bonuses dis year. But can't really complain. At least we still have our jobs.

Surveying for oil and gas companies here. Pretty slow right now. Need some cold fronts to freeze some yankee's and bring some ducks down!

Hydraulic Sales/Service... Slow... Especially in Po' Dunk Lone Star TX.....

Chevron Refinery - Pascagoula, Ms. Sloooow but get better! Capital work is the only thing keeping us a job.

Plumber/ lawn care biz. Lawn care Slow, Plumbing really busy for now.

Going green on the powerplants up here, and just happy to be employed. This is the second time I have worked beyond mid Oct in 10 years, I miss not being off for the hunting/ice fishing season, but the alternative is a lot worse

Work is picking up here in Houston.

We have been stuck in our little industrial bubble and were the last to really be effected by the market downturn.

A lot of the companies here are putting things on hold until after the new year which is the norm as the market sort of dies out until the new year. We've seen companies come back around after putting a project on hold for 6 months earlier this year... Looks like a lot are writing off this year and going to be making efforts to get something done in first quarter of 2010.

I'd like to see natural gas prices increase which would hopefully trigger a good response.

Welder/Fitter foreman in a shipyard. Build barges and living quarters and some barge repair. Never felt a slow down at all. Kinda wish it would for hunting season. Busy as hell.

manufacturing - oilfield production equipment

picking up. we getting alot of international work which helps. I recenty sent some separator packages to Chile, Peru, among other places. Got a 72,000 lbs 60" ID x 30' long contact tower headed to North LA Monday. Our mid-west stuff slowed down real bad, but we've been seeing some stuff come from the north east. Got one job I'm on going to CA. Bulk of our stuff goes into the gulf though.

I been steady but people I talk to say its picking up in the oilfield. Lots of folks was waiting for hurricane season to be over from what I hear,

Oil Refinery operator,doing really good now that I found out that I'm working staight nights starting in the end of Dec for a turnaround.That just means that I get to hunt duck birds every morning after work,if I was on days my season would have been over.

On another note I wish I could get alot of the guys I used to work with offshore jobs with me because the plants around the house just seem to hire dumbasses that are lazy and young and don't know how good they have it to be 21-26 years old making 80 grand a year before OT.I'm used to working with guys that worked not people who showed up to get paid,its all just sad.

Law enforcement and it seems to never slow down

I work for a company that rents epuipment to the port of Houston and to the plants around Houston area. The port is super slow but seems like the plants are starting to rent more equipment and starting to get more work. Just happy to have a job.

i work for a non-destructive testing company and we are making it.. no record breaking profits but hangn' in there. work aint cummn till next year sometime. prolly second quarter itll kick off good

Steel building business is a roller coaster this year. We are in the normal slow time of the year with the holidays. I have a feeling that the new year will have people spending money and the ball will get rolling for the entire south again!

However my second career, stump grinding, has been really slow all summer. The past month has been pickin up,tho. Stopped by the chain saw shop & they are seein a little boost as well.

Scary sloooooooow in the crane sales dept and almost as slow on the rental side.. Sure need somewhere in the world to heat up and start buying some equipment..

Friction between people and their mortgage payments is keeping me busy here at the fire house.

towboating in Texas is up and down. Mostly down. Ducks are showing up down south.

Drilling Fluids Service - work has been steadily increasing in the last 3-4 months. The Haynesville is taking off pretty good and we have been hiring field engineers like crazy. Could all go away quick though. If we can get some bad weather up north and gas comes up to 5-6, but hopefully 7-9 dollars per mcf we will be rockin hard.

Repair and Field Service for the oilfield is Slow.We have not had but a handful of small jobs in the last 6 months.Finally this week we have to Mud Pump packages for Nabors International that will keep us busy for 2 months and some engines for work over rigs to rebuild.My wife work for Patterson UTI Drilling company and they are sending out rigs weekly.Thing are starting to pick up and quote are rolling in daily.We need that fuking change.Negro!!!!!

It is going to pick up...Just hang on and do what it takes to keep your job.We have 16 employees left out of 42.
