 Performance Issues
I purchased a GTR 35 earlier this summer. I mounted it on an Xpress 1756. Console steer, long shaft. No complaints whatsoever this summer. Now I have thrown the aluminum blind, decoys, gear, and a couple guys in it, and I'm a little disappointed. Will definitely not plane, RPMs around 3600. Will changing angle from middle hole help. Trim up or down? New to surface drives and just looking for some tips. I realize it won't be a rocket, but seems like it should do better than it is.

 Re: Performance Issues
That is normal, thats alot of damn weight for a stock engine (if it is indeed stock). You can do a few mods and get the performance you want. With my stage 2, I'll tote that load at 30+. It cost though.

 Re: Performance Issues
I have a 35 stock mounted on a 18x60 WC Custom and with 3 or more will not plane, so i would say MODS NEEDED!
my twin thumbs and today's cellular technology

 Re: Performance Issues
Is the boat a semi v. Does it have any degree v in the bottom. Are you haveing trouble in deep or shallow water. I had a 1754 war eagle with a 35hp mudbuddy that would plane in deep or shallow water with no load. Once i put 3 or 4 ppl in it with decoys and hunting gear it would plane in shallower water, but in deep water it would never plane no matter how load was organized. Might bee your boat hull giving you the problem.

 Re: Performance Issues
sounds to me like to you need a prop with some more pitch in it. I don't understand how it wont plane but will turn 3600. is it cavatating and trying to get up but falls back down and cavitates. Cause its definitely not bogging down if its turning 3600. I would rather turn 3400 and be on plane than just barge around and my motor cavitating.

 Re: Performance Issues
3600 is pretty bogged down, you have too much weight with too little horsepower on a mismatched rig. Simple as that.

 Re: Performance Issues
That sounds exactly like what it's doing. With the load and two guys, it's acceptable at best. That third guy really affects it. Should I have pin in the top hole. I can't even trim it all the way out of the water with the third guy.

 Re: Performance Issues
I just ran yesterday in my 1754 Gator Trax Hybrid Hunt deck (18'8") with me (175), tow guys (180, 210), 80 lbs lab, 7 gal gas and 36 decoys and we had no problem getting on plane with a pure stock GTR35. I was running ~3,700 RPPM with that load.
I'd play with which hole the pin is in and trim angle. Turns out mine seems to like the very top one. I
