Roosted two last night. They were fired up and gobbled at ever owl call. Damn, it felt good. Scouting two other pieces of property this evening and tomorrow evening. Can't wait for Saturday.

Yeah, our birds aren't from Texas, so it's kind of a challenge to kill'm.

I've never hunted them, but i saw a big group of them yesterday comin over morganza spillway and saw a white one with light brown blotches all over it. It was the only one colored like that. Just didn't know if it's rare or not.

^^^^^^^^ this. The best part of turkey hunting is getting the biggest, baddest, tom in the area start calling back to your calls, then the bastard sounds off 20 feet behind you :D I can go in my back yard and shoot just a turkey if I want too easy. I love the hunt trying to get the big old smart birds now.

I can't wait till the my farmer friends get their ag. damage tags for turkeys. They we can shoot them with rifles, nothing funner than dumping them at 300 yds +

Defiantly ready for the season. It opens here April 12 so right around the corner... Looks like there might not be any snow on the ground, but that can all change with our freak spring snow storms...

Goose, you evidently haven't been on a good spring hunt & witnessed the show. I would never shoot a bird with a rifle. You are missing the whole essence of the sport. Kinda like sneaking up over a levee & shooting some woodies on the water...w/o a dog. Not many of us are hunting for survival. Not poking@you, just trying to enlighten you a bit. :D
These Rios in TX are stupid. The Easterns in MS are some of the hardest birds to kill in the country. :!:
I think I am getting an erection!

Of you can successfully kill easterns (in the southeast, not Midwest) regularly, you can go anywhere and kill birds

Done it many of times in the spring. I have a few fans and big beards, but it just doesn't do it for me. They are like prairie dogs up here, most we got out of one field was 73.

Thanks, man. Good luck. We got our second yesterday. Had him gobbling on the roost and flopping on the ground 10 mins later. He isn't the big one in there that we're after, but couldn't resist at 15 yards:

Finished out the day doing some speck fishing:
