Post fish finder/depth finder anyone?
Thinking about getting a hummingbird fish/depth finder I set a lot of lines on the river for yellas and it seems like a more modern idea then sticking a pole in the water to check for holes anyone have experience with em and think it would work well or not?

Lowrance elite 7 best bang for the buck. I think their sonar technology is better than HB too. DI model is $699 at most places.

I got a humminbird 581i its a decent entry level unit and you can add the lakemaster chips so you have gps topo maps and you can plot coordinates.

I really have never cared for humminbird. Have had 2 units and was not impressed. Lowrance is a great combo unit. Also dont skimp on the screen size. Nothing worse than trying to cram chartplotter and depthfinder on the same 5" screen and read it from a few feet away

Depth finder = Lowrance
GPS = Garmin

Is that just a glare on the screen I thought it would semi show the contour of the bottom? I also got the speed transducer

The raymarine dragonfly is the unit I am looking at. The elite 7 hdi was at the top until I saw the raymarine.

Have Garmin in the offshore boat, great unit but high priced. Personally prefer HB unit to Lorance, for operation ease. That again is to each his own. Decided on the HB859 for the new surface drive. The places we fish HD & SI are useless, wanted the larger screen for the GPS options. Also has the aluminum mount compared to the plastic on the Lorance.
