 Trotline gear tags
Just got them in the mail today. Custom engraved hard plastic luggage tags from ebay. I got 8 of them for less than $12 shipped.
Red with white letters (they come in several combinations) with white backs so I can write the date in sharpie marker when I set them out and wipe it off with alcohol when I'm done.

 Re: Trotline gear tags
Look good. I would tag my lines but I don't want anybody figuring out how many hooks I'm running!

 Re: Trotline gear tags
How many hooks can yall run up there? 100 per person here. I'm in the process of building 4 lines @ 300' & 50 hooks each. 2 for me and 2 for the wife.

 Re: Trotline gear tags
I run mostly short 7 hook lines on the river I fish and used to not tag them due to people being able to see. I got a guy bat work to make me some laminated tags that work pretty good, but yours are a lot nicer.

I don't tag my lines, because unfortunately when you do around here other people run them for me..

 Re: Trotline gear tags
Why not use the dog tags that you can get cut for $1?

 Re: Trotline gear tags
We just bring a roll of duct tape and sharpie, all we need is name and address, so while one guy is baiting the other is writing on the tape, rips it off and folds it over the line close to the pole

 Re: Trotline gear tags
Pretty much the same here. Name, address, and date set out.
I don't understand the logic of people saying they don't tag their lines because it will make it more likely to have them ran by other people. For us, the line has to be within 3 feet of the first hook so the tag should be underwater. Even if the tag is visible, scumbags that will run another mans line will probably run any line they see when nobody else is around....
