 EXCEL F4 1860
HEY GUYS NEW TO FORUM. I AN GETTING A NEW MUD BOAT AND I HAVE DECIDED ON THE EXCEL F4. MY QUESTION IS IS A 36HP MUDBUDDY SPORT V BIG ENOUGH FOR THE F4 1860 BOAT. OR IS IT GONNA NEED A BIGGER MOTOR. 36 HP IS AS BIG AS I WANT TO GO SO IF I NEED TO GO WITH SMALLER BOAT I WILL. REASONING FOR THE 36HP IS BECAUSE I PLAN ON USING TO BOAT AT BAYOU META SO 36HP IS THE MAX. WOULD A 1754 F4 BE A BETTER CHOICE FOR THE 36. THANKS GUYS IN ADVANCE.

 Re: EXCEL F4 1860
a 1860 is a lot of boat for a stock mud motor.
A 1754 would be better if u want to stick w a stock mud motor.....Also, not sure u want a boat as wide as a 60 in the woods............. gonna stick that sucker pretty good more than likely.

 Re: EXCEL F4 1860
Go with something other then a Excel and if you are dead set on a stock 36 go with a 1754 of some sort. If you are from the LA area go with a GTR set up cuz they will get back to you. Plus if you go with a GTR you won't even have to go to church on Sunday!!!
Yeah they are that great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Re: EXCEL F4 1860
I had the f4 1860 with the sport v44 and it would run 28ish with just me in the boat. Love the boat but have since sold the sport v and waiting on a gtr35 with stage 1. So I would say you will not be happy with the performance of that motor on that heavy of a boat. Good luck

You will not be satisfied with a stock motor on either boat, I don't believe. I had a 1854 with a stock motor and couldn't plane a hunting load with 2 guys.

 Re: EXCEL F4 1860
Another option for that 36 Hp motor. By Four Alumacraft 1648 Jon boats , for what you will give for that Excel and change out motor everytime ypu trash a boat. I've had mine for three years and have yet to trash it. They carry a pretty good warranty too. They will out run a Heavy hulled mud boat and only weigh 320Lbs. Been there done that.
