 Steel Shot Recomendations
I have been shooting the "Black Cloud" ammunition. But recently I heard that it is not good to shoot b/c it has been damaging many guns. So what are the other options in a premium load, short of switching to a bismuth, tungsten, etc. I have been very successful with the BC's and want something with similar performance but without the damage. Any suggestions would be helpful?

 Re: Steel Shot Recomendations
I reload my own, but any 3" shell loaded with #2's at 1500 fps or higher should put the hurt on 'em as long as it patterns well in your gun. My Benelli Nova didn't like #2's but after putting a Kicks High Flyer choke on it those greenheads don't stand a chance. I've used 3's in the past and killed a lot of birds but I seem to do better with a tight pattern of #2's.

I shoot Kent #3's - I have been pretty satisfied with them. I used to shoot Xpert's and noticed a big difference when I switched. I haven't tried BC's yet. I need to get a raise before I do that

 Re: Steel Shot Recomendations
you need to go out and buy you a few different brands and shoot them all through your gun to see which one patterns the best. i did this lil experiment with my bro. we both shoot the same brand gun but use different brand shells due to how our guns pattern. mine throws a better pattern with federal speed shok and his shoots better with the kent fasteel. every gun shoots every brand differently. if you arent worried bout how your gun patterns then go buy the cheap winchester hi-velocity.

 Re: Steel Shot Recomendations
I really like the Kents out of my M2. Ive been shooting them for a couple of years now and have had good luck with them. However, it really does'nt matter what shell you shoot if you are shooting them with their feet down in the blocks. Some people like the expensive stuff and some like the cheap stuff. It's all personal preference.

 Re: Steel Shot Recomendations
BLACK CLOUD!!!!
Start buying them when they are 1/2 off this time of year and when Macs or Cabelas has them on sale. I spend 15-20 bx for my 2-2/4 4 and 3" #6
Next year i will only by 2-3/4 i have smaked more ducks dead as dead animal this year with 2-3/4 than i have in a few years. It could be im a better shot but i bet your paycheck thats not it.
Just make sure you DONOT have a wade stoping choke tueb in!!!! If you do it will not last very long. Buddy of mine shot some out of a pattermaster b4 we read about the BC and it tosted the choke.
PS......hevi shot is bad ass also Later

 Re: Steel Shot Recomendations
James, you stress me out when you type. not when you talk, just when you type. Anyhow............. I like Kent 3" #3's, but I tried a box of Black Cloud 2 3/4" #3's last weekend and they got the job done too, and they were only 2 bucks more than Kent 3" ammo at the store. I shoot a factory improved cyl. never bothered to pattern it, i'm sure I could improve if I ever took the time to pattern my gun.
